T., I know you must be very worried about your daughter. I am not trying to scare you, but I do want you to realize that this could be very serious. I have an 18 month old with several heart defects that had to be repaired with surgery for him to live. He also has a heart murmur even after the surgeries on his heart. However not all heart murmurs indicate anything serious, but some are the main symptom that the heart may not be functioning properly. If she is also having some pain then this should definitely no longer be considered as nothing too serious. I would get into the cardiologist ASAP and find out if anything what is going on. I don't know where you are but we go through Dr Patel at the Heart Center located in Children's hospital in Akron. He saved my son's life. Other symptoms that would indicate something wrong would be fatigue, heavy breathing, cyanosis (blue) around the lips, hands and feet. Poor appetite, loss of interest in physical activities, swelling in the legs hands face and feet, and or cold clamy grayish colored skin. Please Please Please take this serious until you get to the Heart Dr. for your apt. If she is displaying any of the symptoms I have mentioned rush her to the nearest ER. Don't wait for the apt. I am sure that it's nothing, but better to be safe than sorry until you see the Doc. Good luck and please keep an update. If you have any ?'s you can email me here.
