I have NEVER heard of getting brain tumors from shampoo. I know LOTS and LOTS of people (myself included) who have been washing their hair with store bought shampoo for many many many years and have yet to meet anyone with brain tumors.
I have used some shampoo for years that is suppose to not have bad ingredients that give us "brain tumors" or whatever the claim is on the cheap shampoos (or so they say)
Problem is that my mom stopped ordering from their company and she was a member and got members pricing.
What do you have to say about unhealthy effects of store shampoos on our hair.
Do you have a recommendation on one for me to try that is healthy.

I always go for unscented, because I'm horribly sensitive to added perfumes. So my choices are somewhat limited, but I can still find brands that are sulfate-and-other-chemical-free at my local health food store. Are they more expensive? Probably, but what am I willing to pay for my long-term health? A few pennies per wash is not really much.
http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ is a wonderful website that not only discusses the chemicals best avoided, but it also rates the safety of hundreds of cosmetics and personal cleansers. It's my go-to site if I have questions.
I myself use Organix its about $7 a bottle but it is sulphate free which is better for your scalp. It also isn't tested on animals if that is important to you. I try to stock up when it is buy one get one but there are many to choose from & I love it. I psoriasis on my scalp & it doesn't irritate it at all. Also naked naturals is another good one. It costs about the same but it is a little thicker so a little goes a long way. I H. this helps.
It's sad that a lot of shampoos and cosmetics contain cancer causing ingredients, isn't it?! WHY? It makes no sense. Anyway, you can just google "healthy toiletries" bc there are tons of lists out there and even books you can buy listing the ones that are healthy. The suggestion of just shopping at a Whole Foods is a good one. Anyway, here is a website listing healthy toiletries regular people can afford:

Sounds like clever marketing to get unsuspecting people to buy what amounts to a typical (albeit overpriced) shampoo.
I would go to a health food store & buy an all natural shampoo from there.
Really??? Never heard of that one.
Marketing is a tricky ploy for those who fall for it.
We use Sebastian, Paul Mitchell and the Aussie conditioners
Never heard of cancer causing, brain tumor shampoos. Just everything else hyped up that causes cancer. You move = you are target for cancer... Blah. Marketing ploy to convince you to spend more $$ .
Then, just go to a Whole Foods or natural food store, and buy a shampoo there.
An all natural one.
I am sure you cannot get brain tumors from shampoo!
I use Prosante from Shaklee.
There are harmful ingredients in most shampoos, as well as most soaps and lotions. Plus they pollute the environment. To check out a brand, go to www.ewg.com.
Hi 3 Ms....you can become a member and shop from their store.
I say that there are a lot of dangerous chemicals in most shampoos and over the counter cleaners and such. I have found that the more you buy the more you save. You really don't have to buy a lot...Everything I use is as safe as I can find....and I look and I shop.
You can find safe things at Publix and Fresh Market but you also need to read labels and make sure things are not simply safe for the environment but safe for people...the toxic free label can be used for both.... I shop online from a membership club :)
God bless!

I think you might have a better chance getting a brain tumor from your cell phone than your shampoo, but that's just a guess.
I use products not tested on animals.
You can find all kinds of organic shampoos etc at health food stores. We have the "Co-Op". They have everything you can think of.
I've used many different brands, but the one I've found the most success with I got at Target and it's called Nature's Gate. It doesn't leave a greasy residue and really get's the tangles out. They have a few other brands there too, but they just didn't meet my needs.
Best wishes.
I've never heard that before. I really seriously doubt that regular shampoo sold at the store causes brain tumors. If that was the case, the FDA would be all over that. So would the press. I say, walk on the wild side, girl! Get yourself some good old fashioned Head & Shoulders!
I don't know anything about "healthy" shampoos. I use some that are more "natural" but, really, I pick more on account of ones that smell nice. My current fave is Big by LUSH.
I use Sei Bella from Melaleuca
Never heard that one. All shampoo has the same basic ingredients, store brands, name brands, etc...they are all pretty much the same. Just pick one and try it.
Great that you're paying attention to what you put on your body. Your skin is your largest organ and they DO put lots of preservatives in shampoos, conditioners, etc now and they are harmful. I know people will say that it's ridiculous for it to cause whatever but I've met people who eat meat all day long, drink lots of alcohol and smoke and live to be quite old. Does that mean that's the norm or it's safe? NO
I like ShiKai it's really clean and great:
