Headbanging Toddler - Can He Share Room with Sibling?

Hi Mamas, my 2 year old is a headbanger. He does it when he falls asleep at night and then I notice he also does it in the early morning hours when he's stirring and then he eventually wakes up. I really would like for him and his little sister (11 months) to share a room. My concern though is that his headbanging will be disruptive to her sleep. My husband thinks she'll just get used to it. It's pretty loud. He also hums while he does it. But with our small house it would be so nice to have one sleeping room and one play room! I'm conflicted. I know a few of you out there have had headbangers now or in the past so I'm hoping you have some advice! Thank you!

What can I do next?

The only way to know for sure, is to try it.

Each baby is different... for example: my eldest, was sensitive to noises when she slept. We couldn't even flush the toilet or she'd wake up screaming and it was HARD to get her back to sleep, as a baby. My son, was more oblivious to 'noise' as he slept.

Next, does his headbanging/humming bother you? Does it bother hubby or keep both of you awake and not able to sleep? Does it wake you/Hubby up once you already fell asleep? Have you/Hubby gotten used to it?
If it wakes you, an adult, then don't be surprised if it wakes your baby.... or not. Who knows.

Not all people/babies, get used to noise, when sleeping or wanting to fall asleep.
ie: snoring. It keeps many people awake and not able to sleep...for the person in the same room/bed hearing it.

Then the flip side to this is: will your BABY wake your 2 year old, when she wakes/stirs/cries/needs a feeding at night?

all the best,
Susan

My dad was a headbanger all of his life. He chanted when he did it - it sounded like mnmnmnmnmnmnmnm. I called it the m&m song. I loved it, it put me too sleep every time. Your 11 month old will probably get used to it, you won't know until you try.

I agree with your husband. At his age, he will get used to it. Is this the only way your toddler gets to sleep? One of my son snores and the other one sleeps with his body parts all over. They get used to each other's way of sleep.
