Hi to everyone, this is my first time on here asking a question... I was just curious to find out what i should do.. Last week I had went to the hospital with a very bad headache it feels like it is bleeding but there is no blood just on my right side. They did a cat scan and a spinal tap but everything was good, so that was done and they sent me home with percocets(which i dont like to take since i have two children). So i called my doctor and he had put me back in the hospital for iv meds which i was out in two days. The headache subsided but four days later its still there just not as pounding I still get the feeling my head is bleeding like there is liquid coming down the side of my head.. Any suggestions on what i should do i still just dont feel right..
They said its a migraine has anyone ever had this feeling before. Thank you all in advance.

What can I do next?

I have had a migraine once and it felt like my head was going to explode. I actually had to look in the mirror to make sure blood was not coming out of my eyes and ears because that is what it felt like. The waves of nausea were unbearable and the only thing that helped was to lie in the dark and not move. Caffeine helps also. Did they order Fiorecet for you? This is similar to percocet but it has caffeine in it which usually helps resolve the pain. If it continues I would go back to the doctor or ER. I have not had a migraine since that initial one but if I do feel a headache coming on stronger than normal I go and lie in the dark before it gets to migraine stage.

Hi T.,
I know it was a very long time ago that you posted the question about migraines. But I came across your question and would love to share with you what helped me. I've had migraines since I was 16 years old, I am 24 now. At first I would not take anything for them, then as they got more unbearable I took Motrin, Aspirin, or Aleve, they all seemed to help a little - but most of the time the migraine came back within 48 hours and always stronger than before. So I stopped taking pills altogether, it was hard of course to go through a migraine without a pill, but at least when it went away it went away for good, for a month or two. Then I finally was referred to a neurologist by my pcp, who scheduled an EEG and a CAT scan for me. Everything was normal. So I started researching online to see if anyone had any solutions for this. I read some peer reviewed articles and research on cell phones and finally realized that they might contribute to my migraines. Guess what, my first migraine at 16 years old was a couple of months after I got my first cell phone. Now my husband and I turn our cell phones off when we don't need to use them, we always use speaker phone when we call so that it does not have to be right next to your head. People leave us a message if they need to reach us. I haven't had any migraines for over 3 months, and time will tell if it really works, but so far so good. We are getting a home phone line soon and getting rid of cell phones entirely. Although I can't say it is the cell phone 100%, it is usually combined with a stressful day - but it works for me - and I would much rather be migraine free than have the convenience (and annoyance) of a cell phone.

PS: Do you live or work anywhere near a wireless tower, transmitter, or have wireless internet? They may also contribute.

i have chronic migraines, have had since i was 12. they are awful, miserable. feel like you want to die. go see a neurologist to get on preventative meds or get meds that help you more than percocet - those aren't great for migraines. you need something like imitrex or zomig or something like that. definitely go to a neurologist who specializes in migraines/headaches. migraines can and do go on for days and i call it my "migraine hangover" b/c that's what it feels like, after the worst of it is over.
good luck. it sucks :(

Hi T.,
I'm really sorry to hear you are experiencing migraines. They are so debilitating. I get them infrequently and have learned to cut them off at the pass with Motrin (an anti inflammatory) when the onset of any head pain occurs. I do know there are new medications now on the market for sufferers of migraines, but if this was your first migraine it's not likely your doctor would have recommended it. It's important to get rest during a migraine and if possible lay down in a darkened room. For some reason, light and sound exasperate the condition. If you can tolerate Motrin, it may be helpful to keep some in your medicine cabinet. I wish you all the best!
