HIs is mandatory mine is not. any suggestions what I can do till I can afford to go to the doc?

Do an elimination diet for a week. Eat nothing but brown rice, eggs or chicken (plain), and fresh veggies/fruit. Drink tons of water. The goal is to avoid ALL the headache causing foods out there.

Are they tension headaches, maybe due to stress. I try and take magnesium (over the counter) once a day and it tends to keep mine at bay. If it's a debilitating headache where you can't do anything definitely go see the Dr.

I would also think back to what you have been eating and drinking over the last month, as well as any medication changes. I know that when I started drinking diet cokes, I started having headaches and extreme fatigue as well as trouble sleeping at night. This was also around the time that I had my Mirena IUD removed, so that may have had something to do with the symptoms as well. I cut out refined sugar, fake sugars, caffeine, and flour for about a month and the headaches and fatigue went away. Might be worth a try. You will feel great doing that anyway, I promise.

After my third child, with stress and lack of sleep I started to get more and more migraines. I never had migraines (that I know of before). Anyway, migraines usually are on one side of the head and can last for days even months depending on the kind...also you could have rebound headaches which last long time. They are from taking medication for headaches (I've heard as little as 4 times a month) and you keep getting a headache every day until you break the cycle. If this is it, lack of sleep and stress are major triggers along with things like caffeine, nitrates (in hotdogs, bacon, sausage), MSG, chocolate, redwine and lots of other things. I started to try to work on those major triggers and mine have finally gotten more managable. Good luck...hope you get relief soon. If not, bite the bullet and see a doctor!

are you clinching your teeth? pushing your tongue to the roof of your mouth? sounds like you are under a lot of stress and could be doing either of those which will give you a headache. you could give melatonin or valerian root a try for the not sleeping.

What a wonderful health system. That sucks.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water and eating properly. Watch your salt and fat intake as high blood pressure can lead to ongoing headaches (among many other things). Practice relaxation techniques to help you get to sleep. Take Tylenol and ibuprofen alternately and look into melatonin for your sleep. If you can, take a bit of exercise. I hope you find relief.

It could be a lot of things, but I'll mention something fairly obvious, only because it is what was causing MY headaches all last year. They slowly became more and more frequent, to the point of getting them almost daily.

Do you wear glasses?
I have worn them for YEARS... really, for about 32 years now. I wear them all day everyday. Pretty much can't see how many fingers I'm holding up without them. My prescription has stayed mostly the same for the past 10 years or so. I was a bit overdue for an eye exam and finally got around to it. My prescription was TOO STRONG. Yep, my eyesight improved and my lenses being too strong was causing headaches.
So, if you haven't checked your eyes in a while, that is ONE thing that might be causing headaches.

I agree with the suggestions to watch for stress, high blood pressure, and dehydration.
Also you could try a cold pack to see if that helps. Which part of your head is it?(top, around the eyes, everywhere?) Do you have any sinus or tooth problems, or recently increase or decrease the amount of caffeine you drink?

It could be anything. sinus headaches can last for weeks. Has your diet changed or is there anything you've been eating a lot of recently because that could be a problem. Stress can do that to. Have you ever worn glasses or contacts?
I hope you feel better soon.

where is the pain? is it spread out or to one side. I see you live in Texas. If it is to one side you may have a sinus infection from dry air.

I agree with the food suggestions. There are so many things in prepared foods, diet foods, and fast food that are the worst thing for you if you are not feeling well. Stay away from alcohol, too. Hopefully you don't smoke. I also love hot baths.

Hope you feel better soon and can get some sleep.
