I am 11 weeks pregnant and have been getting headaches everyday since I found out.I am taking tylenol pretty much everyday but I try and only take one dose a day no more than two but they are getting worse sometimes migraine like.Im afraid that taking tylenol everyday will affect my baby.I have tried everything reccomended hot/cold compress, relaxing bath, small amounts of caffine per the dr,I even use a humidifier at night.I dont know what else to do or if there is anything else to try.I am getting to the point where its getting hard to function with.Does anyone have any suggestions on anything to try or any other meds that may be safe to take that the dr may be able to give me ? Any help is much appreciated...

What can I do next?

i'm 10wks & have been having headaches as well. you should be taking a prenatal already, did they check your iron & everything too? i have noticed that if i don't get a lot of sleep then i have them. & i mean i have been going to bed around 7or8pm & waking at 5:30am & then trying to get a nap in as well. i know this is probably hard but it has helped me. if they are getting to be migraines though you should tell your dr. bc they can give you something for that.

Definitely drink more water! I find that I get migraines very easily if I'm underhydrated. A good way to tell whether you are well hydrated is to check the color of your urine. If it's pale yellow or almost clear, then you're good. If it's bright yellow or anything darker, you need to drink more.

Also, definitely have your iron levels checked. I used to get migraines a lot at the beginning of my period, but now I make sure to have a high-iron meal (usually including a sirloin steak and iron-rich veggies) right before and it helps a lot.

A chiropractor is also a good idea. Find one who is trained to work with pregnant women.

Backy, I would recommend asking your doctor about visiting a chiropractor. Often times headaches during pregnancy are tention and hormonal related and a chiroprator may be able to relieve those with an adjustment or some physical therapy, message therapy etc.
Good luck and hang in there, I also suffer from migraines but was thankfully free of them during my pregnancies.

Congratulations!! Are you drinking enough water? I would get headaches if I was a bit dehydrated. Try stepping up the water intake. That will also help with you being tired, if you are experiencing that. Did you used to drink quite a bit of things with caffeine? If so and now you are not it could be withdrawl headaches. One other thing...when I was pregnant and was a bit constipated that would also give me headaches. If you are experiencing that step up the fiber, add some raisin bran, prunes, veggies. Good luck.

You should see (or at least call) your doctor - this doesn't sound normal to me, in particular if you didn't have these headaches prior to pregnancy. I got those migraine headaches towards the end of my first pregnancy and ended up being induced due to pre-eclampsia, so you should get your BP checked. The headaches are just one of the symptoms: http://www.preeclampsia.org/symptoms.asp

And, while preeclampsia is more common during first pregnancies, since it's been so long since your first, your body is likely to react more like a first pregnancy.

Another possibility is that you are low in Magnesium = it helps muscles relax, including those in head/neck/jaw. I used to have debilitating migraines and since adding magnesium (and switching to a GF diet) I have had a single one. You cannot really take too much magnesium as you will excrete excess and this would be far safer for your baby than taking any pain relievers daily.

Also, do you use artificial sweeteners. Those can cause headaches in some folks.

I had the same problem.....I am now 20 weeks....my doctor said there was a migrane med I could take but I decided to wait a bit longer.....she said that it could be caused by hormones....once I got a good week or two into my second trimester....they started going away....I am glad that I waited....I would talk to your doctor...If you can tough it out, I would try...but if not.....call your doc..

You should see your doctor. There was a recent story (can't find it) about listening to your body and responding to ailments. It could be fine, but don't take the chance!

I hope your headaches have disappeared by now, but just in case, I will offer this:

I am 6 wks pregnant and was having horrible headaches. I discovered I have to drink an ABSURD amount of water to ward off the headaches!

Hope this helps!
