I feel for you. I just had twins 3 months ago. The pregnancy was ok but I had a hard time with head aches. I know you said you drink a lot of water but the only solution for me was to drink 1 GALLON of water every day. We would fill up a jug at night and I would drink it all day. It was so crazy and I hated it but after a few days the head aches went away and if I was good about it I felt great, if I slacked off they started again.
good luck!

I get headaches all the time!! I went to my Dr about it and she switched my birth control 3 times. I had my eyes checked too. The only other thing my Dr suggested doing was hormones tests. Do you drink caffeine? Aspartame (or any other artificial sweeteners)??
I would go to your Dr.

I agree with Erica. Especially on the Aspeteme (Spelling). You can find that in the Crystal Light powder, even in the off-brand stuff. I get the worst headaches on those. But, one of the things that I do when I have a migraine coming on. Get ready to go to bed basically. I will sometimes take Ibrophen (Tylenol in your case), and take frozen peas or something FROZEN out of the freezer. I have cranberries that we never use. Depending on the pain level I'll either wrap the frozen cranberries, you know so there is a buffer between the cold and the skin, or just have it go straight onto my forehead or where the pain is most. And just try to relax, breathe, let your mind wonder, and then fall asleep. Don't worry where the peas may fall. I try to sleep it off and usually that works, but sometimes you have to go to the next step. The reason why you have a headache is because...from my understanding....your brain is swollen and it is basically pressing against your skull, hence the headache and pain. So, with the cold compress you are reducing the swelling.

Another cause I just thought of was maybe there is a nerve being pinched. Or your spine is not aligned. Could be a lot of things causing the headache. Stress. I get a lot of headaches. When I was pregnant, my son was on a nerve and my hands were numb. Fun huh? Anyway, you can go to a chiropractor or a massage therapist too. Just let them know that you are pregnant. They can still fix you even though you are pregnant. With that said....I hope this helps. Headaches are not fun. If that stuff doesn't help - talk to your OBGYN and see what else you can take. Take care.

When you're pregnant you body contains 40% more blood than normal and it expands the blood vessels in your head causing headaches.I suffered terribly when I was pregnant and there's nothing you can do.They stopped when I had the baby.

I have complete sympathy for you. I had a migraine for 19 days during my first trimester. I am allergic to Tylenol, though, so my only option was lavender oil. I put it on my forehead and temples. It did give me more relief than any other remedies I tried. In fact, I still use it. You'll need to get real lavender oil, though. I hope this helps.

Hi D.,
I'm a massage therapist, and several mommies have headaches. I can often achieve success for headache relief. Water is another biggie, because a lot of headaches are related to dehydration. I do not know if you live in Eugene but I work and live here. If you're interested in having even a quick massage session to see if you would like it, or if it would have any effect, you can visit me at Village Health Services, at 1755 Coburg Rd. Their phone is ###-###-####. My cell is ###-###-####. If you're not in Eugene, then the professional organization where you can find someone specific to your needs and geographic location, AMTA: http://www.amtamassage.org/findamassage/locator.aspx. I sure hope you feel better soon.

Have you talked to your doctor? I think headachs can sometimes be an early sign of preeclampsia.

I had them in the beginning of my pregnancy, they ceased on their own at about 20 weeks. Tylenol didn't work for me, my doctor prescribed vicodin which helped but I would only take it if I couldn't sleep or function because of the pain. Otherwise, I work for a chiropractor and my best friend is a massage therapist, both of those helped somewhat, but my headaches were hormonal so they didn't help like they do with regular headaches. Good luck!

Try acupuncture. It works for headaches for a LOT of people. Also, you could call "Super Supplements". They have a lot of knowledgeable people who can give you some alternative medical solutions. Aspertame can cause all kinds of autoimmune problems as well.

I think I had a continual headache like that with my last 2-3 pregnancies. I attributed it to sinus pressure and when it was really bad would take Sudafed because I was congested the entire time with my last one. I took tyenol a lot.. but waited until the end of the first trimester. Warm baths, aromatherapy, some teas - and especially one by Celestial Seasons called Tension Tamer really helped me, Have you eliminated caffeine from your diet? You also may still be going through some withdrawal... if that is a contributor, then you will eventually get over that.. one by one you can eliminate sources for the headache and find remedies that will work for you and be safe for the baby. Congratulations!! None of my 5 pregnanices were "fun" but well worth it.

I have three children, and for every pregnancy I started getting headaches about the time that you are at in your pregnancy. I spoke with my OB because I normally don't get headaches and he told me some women get them during pregnancy due to the increase in hormones. It did get better as the pregnancy went on, but if I needed to function during the day I had to take something to get rid of them.

But like the others suggested, I would speak with your doctor.

Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!

Could it be caffeine withdrawal? I got really bad headaches for the first 16 weeks or so of my second pregnancy. Hopefully they'll get better for you soon. They did for me, but it wasn't until almost halfway through the pregnancy. Hang in there.

Make sure you are getting enough calcium from a good quality food supplement that can be absorbed by your body. I recommend this one: http://www.shaklee.net/build/product/20681 they do have a bigger bottle too if you want more. If you are not getting enough protein, these shakes are awesome: http://www.shaklee.net/build/product/20340 Also be sure to stay away from preservatives and pesticides by eating organic. Your body is very sensitive to things when you are pregnant since it is trying to protect the baby. If you still have them, you can try the Hylands Headaches Homeopathic remedy. You can get in your health food store or health food section of like Safeway. You can also try accupressure, but stay away from your hands and feet.

Hi D.. I got them for over 10 years until I watched what I ate. I found out when i ate gaucomole seasoning (not the avocado) it gave me the most nastiest migrane ever!
Also if it gets too dry in the house i get them too. SO i run the hot water to steam my house up daily.
Since then i know if i eat too much gaucomole seasonings i will get a migrane so i dont eat much of it. A headache doctor told me it just could be the MSG in it. Because MSG can give headaches.
You could also be missing vitamins. Your doctor can test for that. Good Luck and congratulations =)

I feel for you. I am a migraine sufferer before I got pregnant. I'm 17 weeks along with my first child, and it's only gotten worse for me. I've missed work, I've vomited, I've been down. My ob gave me some nausea stuff (phenergan) which was a joke. Then he tried something else, which also was a joke. Then he RX'd something called Butalbital w/ Caffeine. Said to take 1-2 every 4 hours as needed, but not to take them in my later pregnancy. Something about it crossing over into the placenta, so anytime I'd get a headache, I'd only take 1, and that barely touched it. A couple weeks ago, I went ahead and took 2 at the same time, and 2 1/2 weeks later, I still haven't had a head ache yet!! I didn't think I was gonna feel good for quite some time. So talk with your OB and ask about it. Trust me, you don't want to be miserable... It's worth feeling better!

Good luck!

I had the same thing and did all of that stuff and finally broke down and got a massage. The headache was gone about three hours after the massage. I was holding a ton of stress in my shoulders and neck. Just a thought. good luck and congrats.

Hi, D. - I have 3 kids, ages 10, 7, and 3, and I had those awful (migraine level) headaches during each of my pregnancies, too. I'm a former natural childbirth instructor, but have been out of practice a while. I think one of my tricks was to tie a piece of cloth around my head to stop the pounding sometimes, but I can't remember what else worked. www.midwifery.com is a good source of natural remedies, so maybe they'd have a good solution for you? Obviously you can't go around with cloth around your head all day, but at night that may help a little! Good luck, and hang in there. It's frequently caused by hormone surges, and may level out by middle trimester. . .

First of all, my prayers are with you! As a life-long headache sufferer, I experienced horrible migraines for weeks of my first pregnancy. I wasn't able to take my usual preventive medication during my pregnancy, but I had some relief taking riboflavin (B2) and magnesium. I also took Percocet and Fiorcet - crazy that they are considered safer than Excedrin, but they are. Getting a pre-natal massage really helped me, and so did using alternating heat and ice packs. I know how debilitating it can be, so I hope you are able to find some relief.
