I need someone anyone to help me with this situation, I have registered my daughter at a number of Head start programmes, but I am only receiving calls stating that my husband works for too much money a year, although he has (4)dependants. And they refer me to daycare that cost $200. and up. Can anyone help me here an explanation would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

Isn't it sick??? You barely get by or live paycheck to paycheck and they tell you you make too much money. I think you need to speak to someone and explain the circumstances. Provide an explanation that although your husband makes this certain amount of money, it is quickly used to provide for 4 dependants. (Example yes, he brings home 1500 a week but you have 3 children in catholic school and high school and a majority of the money will go to tuition, then there is the rent or mortgage, insurance etc...) Perhaps this will help
perhaps it won't as they are sticklers about numbers. Good Luck!

My suggestion it walk around your neighborhood. You may find "a dimond in the ruff" ,as I call it.daycare center. A really great place where they really care for the kids but because they are just starting off their fees mybe lower then their competitors to get the business they need.
Also call 411 they will also give you the number to some free agencies in your neighborhood. I think in order for it to be free you have to be looking for work or working with very little income. But each one is different so sorry but you have to do the leg work.
Hope it all works out for you

Its true that head start is run by the state for poor families and is therefor really crazy about making sure you "qualify" by being low income enough. their standards for this may be different than medicaid or food stamps, so you may qualify for those but not headstart. however it is also a huge beaurocracy and they may be letting your situation slip through the cracks. i suggest you go their in person as much as you can until you speak to someone in charge. bring all your income / dependent papers with you!

good luck,

Alex
