Im on my second round of the HCG diet. The first time was great, maintenance went great also. But this time, im not following it closely, im not so careful or into it for some reason. And i do need to loose a good 20lbs or more to be at an ideal weight, and pre-children weight. I dont know why im not as motivated as i was the first time. Im 2 weeks in and have lost about 5 lbs, but the past few days ive been eating things that are not on the diet and taking bites here and there. I did not do this the first time. Was your second time harder than the first? How did you stay on track? Im disappointed in myself and dont want to waste my time and money. I cant figure out what was different the first time and how i managed to stay strict and follow the plan. Any suggestion? I do have to cook for my 3 kids ad husband, and that has been the hardest part, but like i said, i did it the first time without giving into temptation. Any ideas to stay on track would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

My first time I did 40 days and lost 34 lbs and followed it well. The 2nd round a month later I did another 40 days but only lost 16 lbs. This round I ate an apple daily and would cheat with wine on the weekend. I also exercised through out both. I did do a 3rd time for 21 days. I fell off the wagon after 2nd round (due to Thanksgiving/Christmas) so I had gained 7 lbs back before 3rd round. I lost another 16 lbs on the 3rd round but it was SOOO hard. I would enjoy wine and some carbs on the weekend and spend the week taking it back off. I have been off it for 6 months and go up and down usually 3-5 lbs a week. I do have more to lose but don't think I can do it again. I just need to cut out the wine on the weekends...lol

Good luck and focus on the goal and your ending weight each time you want to have a bite of something. It helps me. Even not on drops.

The reason is because it's too restrictive so it's too easy for you to 'cheat'. The more things you can't eat while on a specific diet the more you want them.

I've never done the HCG diet but one of my bffs did. She had great results but put most of the weight back on. Personally I've been overweight since I hit 42 and the weight didn't want to budge. I started tracking what I was eating and found that it was all processed carbs with very little fruits and veggies.

I'd say to save your money and use one of the on line free trackers like loseit.com or myfitnesspal.com. This will help keep you on track and get you to the results you want. I've been using myfitnesspal.com and lost 13 lbs so far.

I think hCG can be good to jump start a big weight loss (sometimes, and closely monitored by a health care professional).

But now that you're within 20 lbs of your goal weight you're in a different "zone." Your body knows something is up and will push you to not let you lose more weight that quickly (goes back to times of famine).

Have you considered just counting calories and staying within reasonable guidelines, and ramping up your exercise? I did Weight Watchers for a bit, but I get just as much out of myfitnesspal.com (for free).

Good luck - I can empathize.

PS: This is just my amateur mom opinion - I'm not a health care professional of any type.
