I haven't tried it but I know a few people who have done it and lost weight. One girl I know lost like 30 pounds in a fast amount of time. although the hard part was that after she was done with the diet she started gaining weight right back again. So you could do it but even when your done you would still have to make other food changes in order to keep the weight off like count your calories or cut out certain foods. But good luck.

I just did this diet but not all the way through. First poster below sent you to a wiki site BUT it is not for the TRUE HCG diet. That is for the Dr. Kevin Trudeau book that he wrote and added soooo many things to it.

The orginally HCG was developed back in the 70s from Dr. Simmeons. There is the 23, 43 and 63 day diet. You follow the diet to a T. There are only certain veggies, fruit and meats allowed. I did the diet for 23 days and lost 20 pounds. I stopped because there was only 3 veggies i ate on the list of 15 and i couldnt take another cucumber!!! My mom just finished her 43 days and went from a size 14 to an 8. No muscle mass loss etc...

Our Dr even endorses it. To the 2nd poster. YES you are only Consuming 500 calories BUT with each shot it breaks off 2,000 calories for your body to burn off of the fat wall of your body. So your body is consuming 2500 calories.

Those that are generally against this diet are either A hearing bad negative feedback from the B people that are into other "weightloss" stuff that are bad mouthing it.

Simply put ask someone who has done the program and they will tell you it works. www.hcgdiet.com read up there. Cheapest place to order from and it is out of Arizona. (most places are out of country)

of all the fad diets out there, this one has got to be the most dangerous... if you only consume 500 calories per day, you will lose weight even WITHOUT the hcg shot... why in the world would you want to inject yourself with a hormone to lose weight? be sure you do a TON of research on what hcg is, that should be enough to tell you that this is not a good idea. you are going to damage your body and your health in the long run. the ONLY way to lose weight and keep it off is a healthy lifestyle. barring medical problems, calories in need to be less than calories out to lose weight - it's a very simple formula - eat less, eat healthy, exercise more - people always say "oh, that doesn't work for me" - yes it does!

Please do not do this diet.

It's completely against all current research regarding understanding weight regulation and how to best lose weight.

Almost all diet plans fail. It may be 1-5 years down the road, but most people regain the weight for various reasons. Look at all the people on Biggest Loser who've regained it all back despite having the best trainers, physicians, cooks.

Any diet that so dramatically reduces calories puts too much stress on your liver. Your liver stores fat for times of starvation and releases it in the form of gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis - two big scientific terms for your body is starving and desperately needs energy.

I did a quick search on Google.com/scholar, and the only evidence I could find showed that it had duplicate weight loss to plans NOT using the hormones.

Good luck. I'd look elsewhere. All indications are that this is dangerous and should be avoided. You may want to read about it on Wikipedia.org
