I don't know much about these shots, but if you want to lose weight the healthy way, I run weight loss competitions that are really fun and it involves nutrition classes to support people to get in shape the healthy way. We've had participants lose 28 pounds in 6 weeks, or one who lost 40 inches in 5 weeks, one who dropped 3% in body fat percentage in 6 weeks. You can contact me at 888-236-4453 or ____@____.com.

Amber, I am concerned at how easily people can buy the injections now. The people who have had success and maintained it have done so generally under a doctors supervision. Dropping to a 500 calorie a day diet is dangerous and probably why the injections work. But HGC is the hormone our bodies create when we are pregnant. Do you want to similate pregnancy in your body?
This is what I found:
Some women using this medicine have developed a condition called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), especially after the first treatment cycle. OHSS can be a life-threatening condition. Call your doctor right away if you have any symptoms of OHSS: severe pelvic pain, swelling of the hands or legs, stomach pain and swelling, shortness of breath, weight gain, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting, and urinating less than normal.

What is the most important information I should know about HCG?

Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is given as an injection under the skin or into a muscle. If you use this medicine at home, your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist will give you specific instructions on how and where to inject this medicine. Do not self-inject this medicine if you do not fully understand how to give the injection and properly dispose of used needles and syringes.

Call your doctor at once if you have any of these signs of a blood clot: pain, warmth, redness, numbness, or tingling in your arm or leg; confusion, extreme dizziness, or severe headache.

HCG can cause early puberty in young boys. Call your doctor if a boy using this medicine shows early signs of puberty, such as a deepened voice, pubic hair growth, and increased acne or sweating.

Using this medicine can increase your chances of having a multiple pregnancy (twins, triplets, quadruplets, etc). A multiple pregnancy is a high-risk pregnancy for the mother and for the babies. Follow your doctor's instructions about any special care you may need during your pregnancy.
nopreg Although HCG can help you become pregnant, this medication is in the FDA pregnancy category X. This means that using the medication once you are pregnant can cause birth defects in the baby. Do not use this medication if you are pregnant. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant during treatment. Less serious side effects may include:

* headache;
* feeling restless or irritable;
* mild swelling or water weight gain;
* depression;
* breast tenderness or swelling; or
* pain, swelling, or irritation where the injection is given.

This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect.

IF you decide to follow this diet plan PLEASE do it under the supervision of your family doctor. Talk it out with your doctor. If your doctor gives an endorsement follow the plan carefully. I know my doctor would tell me no, absolutely not. There might be medical reasons some doctors would use this process, I know with extremely obese people without other complications they will sometimes use it. I have had PPD and that alone would deter a doc from saying go ahead, it's a hormone and the chances of having a hormone imbalance are raised when it is injected into your body. Consider carefully please.
I think just dropping your calorie intake by 10% would be healthier and show healthy longer lasting results. You can track your calrories online for free at FitDay or at Sparkspeople. If you are looking for something with more accountability and support look into Weight Watchers or for the money of the HCG do the Nutrisystem. Those would be my recommendations over putting a hormone into your body.

Ok, I did some reading on this just because I was curious when I saw your request. Sure, it sounds really great...if you like headaches or the normal pregnancy symptoms. You would be INJECTING a hormone that is produced by the placenta during pregnancy. Seriously, you would consider injecting yourself with something just to lose weight? In my opinion, eating less and moving more is a better plan. It's really easy, and you don't have to stick a needle in your arm. All you do is eat less of the foods you like, add more veggies, get outside with your kid or a girlfriend and start walking. You will feel great after a good, brisk walk! If you turn this into something you do daily or every other day, you will lose weight and feel good about yourself. I'm 31 and have given birth to two kids and lost all baby weight and then some this way. I have never cut out pastas, bread, cheese or anything else I like. I just eat less of it and more of the green stuff. I still eat sweets, just less. I hate needles anyway, so the HCG thing would never be for me.

In reading the responses, it seems this "diet" requires VERY strict food limitations (no sugar, fast food, etc). I guess my question would be, why bother with the injections, because if you actually limited your consumption of all those foods, you would lose weight anyway. I'm not one of those people that believes in weight loss pills or drugs, so this wouldn't be for me. I would just limit the junk and exercise more. Even running up and down your stairs for 5 or 10 minutes a day could help, especially if you aren't exercising at all now.

I have a six month old and am nursing and really wanted to loose weight. I've recently started using this stuff that has been working amazingly alone, (lost 12 pounds in three weeks) but I also think it'd work well with the shots cuz I know for part of it you need to cut your calorie intake to like 500 calories a day. HARD TO DO! check out my blog www.fordeverfamily.blogspot.com

as far as i know, hgc is not a diet of any kind, it's basically a type of steroid. it's one of the things all those baseball players were in trouble for using recently. as far as i know hgc will cause a person to gain muscle or body mass, not lose weight. you should definitely not try it as a weightloss plan and i hope your brother talked to his doctor before taking the hormones. the hormones can have serious side effects if they aren't used appropriately.

I love it. What I love the most is not just the weight loss, but the INCH loss! I am losing rolls that were in awful places and I still look healthy. Just make sure you follow the protocol--otherwise it is a total waste of money and time. They say that for one day of 'cheating' you lose three days of weightloss. It is true--I cheated a couple of times and I totally know that they aren't kidding. Make sure you are ready to commit and then enjoy!!

HGC is the mew craze that everyone is getting into. I don't know that much about HGC. It is a type of steroid if I remember right. In my oppinion, anything taken through injection is not good for you. If you are looking for something to help you during workouts you are better off taking amino acids. Amino acids are something your body needs, and will help the body recover better after a workout.

Amber,
This is a very contriversial subject, yet I wanted to tell you my opinion first hand. I have been on the HCG diet for 4 weeks now and have lost a total of 23 pounds. The diet was hard to follow at first because it is such a lifestyle change, however now it is very easy. The weight has just been melting off and I can't be more pleased with the results. I work very closely with the physician and have to keep a journal. I did alot of research on the program before beginning it. I would recommend reading the book by Dr. Simeon (?Spelling?) and you can also get alot of feedback (both negative and positive on the internet. Just google HCG Diet. If you need any more information just e-mail me. Good Luck.

Are you sure he's not taking HGH (Human Growth Hormone) instead of hCG (Human Chorionic Gonaditropin)? hCG is what is looked for in pregnancy tests.

I know there is a newish thing to take hCG as part of a weight-loss diet, but it's still mostly unknown and rather dangerous. As for HGH? Yeah, that's dangerous, as well.

Either way, I would seriously recommend NOT using either. The best "diet" is to drink a plenty of water, get plenty of exercise (and no, it doesn't have to be strenuous), eat balanced and in proper proportion, and not deny yourself the occasional treat. Steroids, hormones, and the like will only make matters worse, despite appearing to help for a while.

Amber,

In my experience, if you can't keep living like that the rest of your life, you will just gain the weight back. I'm sorry, but I had to laugh at the poster who said that if you stay on the diet, you won't gain the weight back. Well, duh! If you cut out junk food, fake chemicals and other empty calories you will be in pretty good shape. Why would you need injctions? Just make the diet changes and see what happens.

Best of luck,
S.

I have a friend that just got her RN and said that in Utach this is a very big thing in Utah right now and that a lot of her nursing school friends are doing it. Supposedly it is the hormone found in women during pregnancy and with the strict eating regimen you can totally lose weight. It is in such serrious demand that they ran out of the shots. My friend is currently on a waiting list for it and seems to think that it is ok.

I don't really know anything about it myself and would be very skeptical about it, but I thought I would share what I had heard.

I read Kevin Trudeau's book about this..."The Weight Loss Cure "they" Don't Want You To Know About" about a year and a half ago, and thought this sounded pretty legit if you're willing to commit to the strict diet. Recently my sister actually started the diet to lose weight and looks AMAZING!!! After one month she's down almost 30 lbs! I know people say eating 500 calories is dangerous and that you'll gain all the weight back once you go off the diet, but if they knew how the hcg actually works or if they read the protocol by Dr. Simeons, they would know that's not true. The hcg allows your body to release secured fat stores in your body, up to one whole pound in a day, so even though you're only eating 500 calories, your body is still receiving up to 3500 more calories (1 pound) to burn off. That's why people lose on average a pound a day. This is also why you don't feel hungy or deprived on this diet. The diet is designed to reset your hypothalamus gland, which is very slow in overweight or obese people. Haven't you noticed how skinny people can eat whatever they want and they always stay skinny?! Anyways, you should read the book, it's very good and informative and gives you all the info you need. I know my sister looks great, as well as a couple of friends she's doing it with. Good luck...just maks sure you stick to the diet and don't cheat because it's expensive stuff!!
