Having a Hard Time Making Friends

I guess I just really dont know how - age 32 and have no clue lol. I am a SAHM with a 2 1/2 yo daughter. I havent worked in 3 years. Most of my old friends have moved out of town and the ones still here still live that wild, no kids lifestyle..so I guess my life is boring to them now. Heck, it can be boring to me :) Anyway, I can be picky I suppose. I am not the typical chic. I do not LOVE to shop, no high heels, no fancy purses and I hated Sex in the City. I am down to earth, love movies, good food, relaxing...jeans and t shirt kind of gal. I love being a mom, but I do not want my entire life defined by that. I am not breast feeding until age 4...I am not or was not an AP parent...and I do not like it when we are judged for that. So anyway...I jus wonder...what does a 32 yo non-working mom do to make friends in this town?

What can I do next?

Hello!
I have stayed home for 7 years with my kids and believe me I know! If you look on the journal times weblog right now, they have a conversation about this very thing. They have some good suggestions! If you can't find it let me know and I'll list some of the responses. I hope this helps!

It is hard - I hear you. I'm fairly new to Racine so its been hard from that respect - just starting over. I have a two year old daughter as well (and a four year old son) - if you want to get the kids together I'd be open. I have friends but not any with kids my daughter's age. I live in downtown Racine next to the lake - where are you located?

If you want to meet at McDonalds or something - let me know. I know there are a bunch of Moms Groups in town - in fact your name sounds familar from Racine Family Club. I do not belong to any but for a brief time I helped them out when they were getting started.

Hey H....I am also a SAHM to a daughter who just turned 3. It was an adjustment for me too...one thing that helped me meet people was getting involved in various Moms groups. I am in one at my church (it is a Catholic church, but you don't have to be Catholic or a member of the church to participate). We meet every other Wednesday from 9:30 - 11:00...the seniors group at our church watch the kids while the Moms get to visit and catch up. It is a great way to meet people...and have a little "adult" time. The church is in New Berlin...so not sure you are up for the drive?! Let me know if you are interested. We meet this Wednesday. You can email me too...we live in Muskego.

I can relate to your post. And actually had to laugh. Bf until she's four! lmao!! I've tried to find groups locally and ironically none really "meet". They just chat online?!! All of my friends work and half don't even have kids!!! I tried LLL and I didn't feel comfortable because I was trying to get my daughter to drink breastmilk from a bottle. OMG, the horror right?!! They couldn't understand why I wanted her to drink from a bottle if I was nursing. Hello?! Mom needs a life to! Anyways, I have yet to find something as well. If you do please let me know; I live in Pleasant Prairie!!
BTW- what is a AP parent?? Good luck!
