Do you think these lunch boxes are really better than the regular lunch boxes or is it just a gimmick?
Heres a link to the commercial

I guess from the packit website the pros for me would be no ice packs, you don't have to worry about storing lunch boxes or them taking up space on your counters the cons since you freeze the entire bag you can't put hot stuff in it because it will be cold come lunch time,
most bags cost less and keep foods cold long enough for what is needed for school age kids. It might be nice for long days out like the to the beach or if your child has after school activities and needs to keeps snacks cold longer.

I know there are crate commercial companies that use a liner that turns a crate into a cooler. It's patented and I doubt she got ahold of it. There was a review from mommyof3 where she experimented and it was warm before 10 hours.

I watched the link and did not see how they would be more effective than the blue ice packs. For things I want to keep extra hot or extra cold I put them in a thermos like food jar. I also have a plastic food container that has a cryo pack that you can heat in boiling water and then zip into an insolated case with the container. From the feedback I've received from my daughter the food jar keeps foods hotter.

I don't know... the reviews on Amazon didn't seem that great. I probably wouldn't buy one. The commercial doesn't seem truthful, either, compared to what customers are experiencing, and it seems a bit gimmicky to me. I don't think anything can keep food/drink cold, while not in the fridge, and in the heat here, for a super extended amount of time. I'll probably just stick with ice packs.

I have - and we want one! lol

You should check out the reviews on Amazon. Apparently, they are a little on the small side, but I think they do stay pretty cold. There was one reviewer in particular who stocked their Packit with a number of specific foods and then timed it to see how long which items would stay cold. It was pretty funny. ;)

Anyway I think they'd be great for school. Four to six hours is really all you need, right?

I saw the commercial there is no rational reason why they would work better than any other lunch box. What is funny is I question those infomercials so much my younger son is starting to ask what is wrong with that? If it makes you feel better even he sees no difference and he is wayyyy more critical of these things that me. :p
