We have one and I didn't find it to be very helpful. We would scan her ear and it was come back green (so the ear looks good) then would check a few minutes later and it would come back red. Once we came back from the doctor, we had been there for follow up t make sue her last ear infection was cleared up, and it was. Used the ear check, and it still came back red. My husband and I would often check ourselves, and almost every time it would come back red, and I knew I don't have an ear infection. I think it is just very sensitive to how far in the ear it is, the angle it is at, how still your child holds, etc. . . I would never have paid $50 for it, so not worth it in my opinion. (Got it at a consignment sale for $8.)
