Yes, every night they close, then they open again in the morning.

They are not going totally out of business but they are closing a number of under performing stores.

Wouldn't bother me. It has no effect on me because I don't shop at either one.

I guess opening at 6AM on Thanksgiving day couldn't keep KMart afloat. I'm not surprised about either one. Sears/KMart has been struggling for a while and needs to reorganize.

Christy - it would help if those Craftsman tools were brought back to be made in America, too...

Lots of stores are closing individual locations because more and more people are shopping on line. Same for Staples and other types of stores. That doesn't mean the whole chain is closing, and it doesn't mean that there won't be other stores providing the same products. Sam's Club is part of Walmart, which is taking a lot of heat for not paying workers a living wage. So they've lost a lot of customers who refuse to support them. But Costco has similar products (and the same or greater savings) while paying far above minimum wage and offering benefits - so a lot of people prefer to spend their dollars there. If you look around, you will find many alternatives.

And again, as you've been told on your prior posts, you're not going to get nearly as many responses because you don't put the subject of your question in the title. If you had put "Sears and Sam's closing in Georgia?" as the title, you would get 3 times as many responses. I think you are still having trouble figuring out how Mamapedia works so you can get real benefit.

Yes, Sears is closing several stores, Kmart and Sears combine to make up the 235 stores to close. Sams is closing a few under performing stores, but from what I read, also opening more and remodeling others.

I am in IL and supposedly none of the Sears stores here are closing--they did just give major incentive to keep their HQ here.

Sears and K-Mart stores have been closing all over the place. I think they would be wise to stop selling everything except Kenmore appliances and Craftsman tools. That change would keep them above water.

There is no recent news about Sam's Club closing.
