Hi Ladies! I'm in love with that show 'Pawn Stars'. People bring in all kinds of neat things and some of them turn out to be incredibly valuable. I also like 'Storage Wars', they find the coolest things on that show. Have any of you ever stumbled across something that turned out to be valuable? Or did you keep something that you thought would be valuable then it turned out to be worth nothing at all?

What can I do next?

Does this count?
I bought a really cute pair (like NEW) of sandals at a thrift store and found out that they were Arche brand and were worth about $250!
I would never spend that kind of money on a pair of shoes (though they ARE comfy!) but for 6.99? I'm IN!

My grandma bought what she thought was a pretty piece of small, green glass at El Mercado in San Antonio for $10. Later she had some old gold jewelry melted down and had a ring made for me, and asked the jeweler to set the green glass in it. He asked her if she wanted to insure it. It turns out it was an emerald worth $600. :) My grandma died a few years ago, and I love that ring, and the story that goes with it.

Cleaning out a foreclosed house, we found some really. cool. stuff.

Bowler hat, sold for $300, still in the box

Silver childrens plate, $60

Mannequins... I kept one... the others sold for $240 each

Glass wine carafe, $190

I also have some old books worth some $$$.

Best find was by our BFF. He bought an old bible from an auction (he thought it was something else, go figure)... Bought it for $30... sold on ebay for $9,000... to a museum.

Did you ever watch that episode of the other pawn show (omg I forgot the name), some lady brought in a spider broach and wanted $60 for it... turns out it was made by Fabrege (I can't spell).... she walked out of there with tens of thousands of dollars!!

My grandfather always said that this glass things that were on the tops of lightpoles when he was young would be worth some money some day. I still have them but I don't think they are worth anything. I keep then cause they are neat looking and remind me of him.

Nope.

I am that person at yard sales and estate sales buying up things at two bucks a pop thinking, "oh yes, some of this has to be worth SOMETHING".

It's not.

I love the show Pawn Stars and Storage Wars. American Pickers is fab too!

My mom is one of the very FIRST E-BAY sellers and has made some decent money over the years.

Her best sale was a deck of cards that sold for $1,200, she paid 50 cents for a shoebox of cards at a rummage sale. Apparently a poker player in Vegas HAD to have THOSE cards. She called my crying as soon as the payment went thru. Pretty exciting!

When my brother came to visit last month we went to traders village. He bought 2 industrial looking search lights from a junk table. The guy said he only thought one of them worked, so my brother got both for $3. When he got home and plugged them in they both worked fine. He typed in the model and serial numbers and found out they were military issue surgical lights used in army field hospitals. They were actually worth $400 each collectors auction price. So, I thought that was pretty impressive.
