Have You Ever Had a Day Where Your Brain Was Just Checked Out?

This morning I picked up a daycare child from school. Only I was confused by the day and his MOM came right after me to get him. Then she has to catch up with me on the road and I followed her to my house where we transfered him to her. We had a laugh about that.

I really needed gas. But when she waived at me on the highway I forgot.

A little while later when my daughter and mother get into a beef, I stuck up for my daughter, only to find out that she lied. It's so difficult with those two. At any time, it could be either one of them that's to blame and I try and refaree. It's no fun being in the middle.

So fast forward and I pick up food from Taco Bell. I was simply starved and brought back a lot for all of us. This part of the day will become important later.

Fast forward a while later and I get a call from my husband. His car has broke down on the side of the road. I have to go and get him. First, I have to wait for the tow truck. He finally calls and tells me where to meet him. So I start out the door and can't find my keys...I look and look and finally look in the van. Not only are the keys in the van, but it's been running all afternoon on an empty tank!

So I head out to the gas station and put in 10 dollars in one of those cash spots. I start it pumping and then I'm talking with my daughter. I hear it click and I'm in such a hurry I don't check to see that the whole 10 pumped. I start down the road and get several blcoks away and I notice the gas light is still on. GRRR...I stop and get more gas at another place because there's no time to go back.

Did I mention that the whole time it's a torrential downpour?! I had to drive so slow because I could not see. As it turns out my husbands out in the rain for like 25 minutes while I'm fussing with keys and gas.

I think my brain left the building today.

What can I do next?

You are not the only one!! Eventually it will be funny (I hope). When I am very tired I have days like that and have also locked my keys in a running car on a few occasions (once it was a car for work and a coworker had to bring me the extra keys). I hope tomorrow goes better!

Oh honey. That's a down-right difficult day! So sorry.
My brain-free days are a bit different but I still have THOSE kinds of days.
My mom used to put her keys in the fridge, purse in the freezer etc.
Poor thing was stretched thin.
Now I understand.
I can never find my keys yet I have a place for them by the door which I
normally use. Hmmmm?
I always make a grocery shopping list yet somehow it mysteriously
disappears before I get to the grocery store. What? Then I find it 3 days
later in my purse where it should be.
I bring in the mail but can't find where I put it. I always goes in the same
place. Really? Because I later find in slipped behind the couch, next
to the back door on the floor etc. WHAT?
Poor you. Poor hubby! It happens. Murphy is laughing somewhere.

Yes, I call it mommy brain. More when my kids were little, not so much now. I think it has to do with soooo much to do, and sooo much going on. I can remember driving past my kids school when I was supposed to pick them up, and forget where I was going. One time a mom asked me to get their child not even 10 minutes before pick up. I got all the way home and realized I forgot her child had to run back to the school eeekkkk. I really freaked myself out somedays I was so forgetful. I think it is perfectly normal, and too much on your mind. I started making lists everywhere and that helped take things off my mind so I could concentrate on other things. I even kept a pad by my bed because I would wake at night thinking of all the things I needed to do.

Join the club! The older I get, the more this seems to happen. I agree with the previous poster that it sounds like PMS too. Sometimes we have so much going on in our lives that we lose track of just the basic stuff. I hope you have a better day!

Oh, yes! I have days like that. I have to look at my calendar to even know what day it is and what I'm supposed to do that day. I pick up and take my grandchildren to school on Mondays and Wednesdays but yet I forgot that I was to do it this morning. I stayed up until 3 and then remembered. So I only had 3 hours of sleep. Fortunately I was able to nap today.

I get confused every once in awhile about where I'm headed. I'm going to pick up a friend but I turn to drive to my daughter's. I head for the store and then can't remember what I was going to buy.

Your post reminds me that I must get gas before I do anything else tomorrow.

Yuck. I'm sorry you had such a bad day. Yes, I know how you feel. I've been sick for the past week (fighting a sinus infection/cold) and yesterday I was so out of it that I hit myself in the head with my car door. Yes, that's right: I unlocked the door, opened it, and swung it right into my forehead. The worse thing (other than the fact that it really hurt) was that it left a noticeable welt on my forehead, and I was on my way to work so everyone could see the big bump on my head. I still can't believe I managed to hit myself with the car door--I am clumsy, but I can safely say I've never done that...until yesterday. Oh, well. Hope your day goes by more smoothly tomorrow!

Sounds like PMS to me. Are you close to your time of the month? If not here are a few suggestions for fewer days or hours like that.
Quit eating junk food ever. It doesn't really have good nutrition in it. Real food will feed your brain and the needs of your body and your children's bodies.
Get your thyroid checked out. Women with low thyroid often have these kinds of problems.
About your mother and daughter....see if you can get into a communications class or self help group so you can effectively say what you mean and mean what you say. That way you won't be in the middle as much.
