L.A.
Nope.. I have tried to push it before.. And ended up losing my voice completely for days..
When they tell you to absolutely not talk for a day.. It really does work. even though it is completely frustrating and inconvenient.
So I've had a cold. Not a bad cold. But it affected my voice. Got worse when I went to work at my kids' school today.
So, don't know if I should go to work tomorrow or not?
I do have to interact with the kids and use my voice a lot, per what I do there.
And as we Moms know... when WE are sick, its not like anyone cares.
The house and kids and Husband still go on as though you are not sick.
I am tired and just want to lie down all day.
Not even a "how are you feeling" from Husband!
But when he is sick, well you know how they are such babies.
Oh well.
Anyway, going back to my question: so would you go to work tomorrow if you had Laryngitis?
I have decided to stay home.
Still have a froggy voice and am tired.
It will get worse if I go into work.
I don't want to lose my voice completely.
Thank you all.

If you have to use your voice at work then I would say no, as you can just exacerbate the problem. If you're feeling that tired after "just a cold" it might be trying to turn into something else. You should get plenty of rest and let the husband take care of the kids so you can recuperate.
Hope you feel better.
Stay home. Alone. Rest your voice & sleep in silence!
I've gone to work with laryingitis. Single mom, no real choice.
As long as I wasn't infectious, I could still perform most of my job duties.
If you've got anything you can spread, you should definitely stay home.
If it's just a strained voice, maybe you could do something creative to communicate with the kids.
If you really feel sick, take the day off to recover.
I've recovered from illnesses and still had no real voice for a couple of weeks afterwards. I've just winged it, as an office manager.
But, if you don't feel well, don't go.
It's not worth spreading the "joy".
I hope you feel better soon.
It wouldn't hurt to go but why? Stay home and get some rest. Hopefully you can have the house to yourself and get as much sleep as you can. Hope you feel better.
Glad to hear you stayed home! I get laryngitis a couple of times a year and have, on occasion, gone to work .... only to find that my voice didn't come back for over a month! It is MUCH better to avoid talking as much as possible (I walked around with a notepad and pen and wrote what i wanted to say!) Actually funny that people instinctively want to write back ... nothing wrong with my HEARING! LOL
I'm sssssoooo ssooorrry!!! Last Friday - I had a sore throat and had lost my voice - turned out I had bronchitis.
Do yourself a favor and NOT go to work. Go directly to bed. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200 - go directly to bed. ..
I have been TRYING to recover - as I think it's just more than bronchitis since Friday. I've been sleeping a TON. Which is odd for me.
PLEASE!!! I like you!!! Take care of yourself!!!
I would, buts that's because if I stay at home I end up cleaning or getting in the middle of a chore then don't feel like finishing it and have a huge mess to clean up once I do feel better.
If you've got the sick time to use, then use it.
If you need to save up the sick time, then go to work.
When I worked in an office, not having a working voice didn't stop me from going in because most of my work didn't involve talking.
