Dear Moms, I just would like some advice or just curious if anyone has ever had the same issues I have. I am a wife and mother, pretty good life. My husband and boys are healthy and everything that is important is all fine. We could stand to have more money but who could'nt. My problem is me. I have been going thur dizzy spell, aches, pains etc...for the last 4 years. I have had every test you can think of and all of them came back normal..Thank God!! However I am still having the same symptoms now and then. They come and go. I went to a neurologist this morning and he said nothing is wrong that he can see. He said sometimes a body just goes thru things. It might go away or it may not. I am starting to think could it be my nerves?? I have stress in my life but nothing to cause all of these problems. Has anyone ever gone thru this and if so what did you do? I feel very lucky, I have a strong faith and I know there is alot of people with alot more wrong in there life then me. Thanks moms. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

Sometimes people just go thru body changes differently and the changes can cause pain. We all have to learn to live with it and just keep going. It's not easy but as moms, if we don't keep going, who will? Most men complain over a hangnail and won't go to a dr. when they NEED to because they don't want any bad news. That only leaves us to Carry on. Good luck mommy and hang in there.

Do you eat a lot of carbs or sweets? When blood sugar spikes or crashes, it can make you feel dizzy. My mom also had dizziness a while back and eliminated caffeine and decreased salt from her diet. It did the trick. Alcohol also plays a role. Also make sure you're getting enough sleep. Also, has your doctor ruled out Meniere's Syndrome?

Good luck.

N., this might help you. I have been using nutrition supplements for about 3.5 years. I couldn't tell you how this works, but somehow, having the optimum nutrition these products contain helps balance out the body tremendously. The company is Reliv International. I am a distributor but no longer sell. It is a multi level marketing company, but no one says you have to sell. If one can get past the hype, I think you might find it very helpful. The products are powder and are mixed with liquids. My morning shake, for example, is done with skim milk and frozen fruit. Other people do lots of other things. You are welcome to check out the web site
reliv.com
or email me directly at
____@____.com
and I will put you in contact with someone who can help you. Good luck, and I'd sure give it a try. I am almost 58 and have been blessed with excellent health thus far. In March, 2007, I went with my parish choir to Italy and took my shake every day. We had 16-18 hour days which I was able to deal with and experienced no jet lag upon return. A few of our people had trouble for several days.

I have a relative and a couple of friends who have had various immune diseases with similar symptoms and similar reactions from doctors. It took decades for my SIL's doctors to figure out she had Celiac disease even though the signs (other immune diseases, etc.) were there. I don't think doctors understand immune disorders very well at all. A friend found out she had a disease called Sjogren's Syndrome after all sorts of testing and wrong guesses.

You might do some reading on some of the common disorders and see if anything sounds familiar? Good luck! Here's a link that has a listing of diseases and symptoms, might be a starting point: http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/a/ai/intro.htm#excerpts

Sounds like what I went through myself. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Go to a dr that specializes in fibro. There are a lot of good ones in Elk Grove Village thru Alexian Brothers. I was actually diagnosed at the Mayo Clinic in MN. They were fantastic! Some medication, lots of exercises and I feel like it's under control. Don't give up. You will hurt but at least you can manage it.

Just a thought!

If at all possible I think you should see a psychiatrist. I say that because many times depression and other mental health issues can present with the symptoms you describe. You could atleast have the peace of mind that it is not a mental health issue. You should see a psychiatrist and not a psychologist in this case. A psychiatrist has an MD and could determine if there is an organic cause for your symptoms. I had some of these symptoms and ended up being diagnosed with depression. I take medication and feel great now. There is nothing to be ashamed of. Mental health illnesses are just like physical illnesses. They need diagnosis and treatment and you can continue to have a great life. Good luck.

Hi N.,

Like you, I have a wonderful family and husband with others much worse off than myself. You did not mention your age, however, I had the same symptoms that began around 39 - 40 years of age. It got so bad that I began going through some crazy feelings of panic attacks, mood swings, etc. When I finally admitted I was having issues (2 years later!) I saw my gyno and found out I was going through a mid-life depression caused by fluctuating hormone/chemical levels and had a thyroid issue on top of it. I have been on meds for almost 8 months now and feel great! It wouldn't hurt to speak to your doc about it...don't wait like I did, it hurts to many people you love and makes you think you are just plain nuts.

Best of luck and I hope you begin feeling better soon.

I have heard these issues more than any other in all of my 20 years of dealing with people. Many many times when you have ruled out any and all health issues it is a matter of toxins. Candida (bad bacteria build up) and parasites and certain foods all trigger your symptoms. So I would bet that is not nerves and what you are feeling is real. You need to to a candida cleanse, liver and intestinal cleanse. This will help immensely. Processed foods, sugar, dyes, foods from restaurants or fast food joints only worsen the problem.

You need to eat and drink clean!!

Let me know if you want more info. I have a few documents I can send you and the products you can get at a discount supplement website or Whole Foods/Health food store.
In great health!!

Possible causes can be either a blood-sugar level spike or decrease, or coming down from a caffine high. I get dizzy spells, and although I am a health nut and drink natural energy drinks, I can't ley go of my morning coffee. I get dizzy spells once in a while that has been attributed to too much caffine on a not full stomach.

Also,I rarely have alergy issues anymore, but when something really bothers me, my sinuses swell and cause dizziness too. If I don't treat this soon enough with a sinus washing with a neti-pot, it can turn into a headache. Alergies to something new could be the culprit.
About 12 years ago I had a sinus headache with almost virtigo-like symptoms. I went to the emergency room and they did everything from MRI to a spinal tap, and found nothing. An ENT suggested it was the sinus issue that was triggered by an alergy.
Contact me if you want any more info.

Good luck and good health!

Hi N.!

I've have been where you are. Different symptoms but going to the doctor had almost become a hobby. I urge you to investigate nutrition and food intolerance as a possibility. Bonnie Minsky of Nutritional Concepts in Northbrook has helped me a TON. My doctor visit hobby is completely gone and as long as I eat my safe foods I feel great. She really is a genius.

I also helped myself with regular exercise. I run on a treadmill for 20 minutes 6 days a week. I'm not winning any awards for fitness but it has helped me feel healthier and more energetic.

Good luck!

Have you considered seeing a chiropractor? I went through the same issues with migraines, dizzy spells only to get prescribed drugs that made me more sick when the migraine occured. I took actions into my own hands changing my diet, eating clean, organic and taking supplements for the minerals I was deficient in. Also, you may have classic adrenal fatigue symptoms which is just starting to become more recognized in the medical community, but you would still have to look hard to find someone who is willing to help you treat it, however a chiropractor will help greatly! I agree with Toni that you also have candidia overload (aka yeast) that contributes greatly to adrenal fatigue too.

I live in Chicago, and if you need a good referral to a chiropractor, she is located in the Gold Coast and has a very well-rounded staff, she is not in the business to crack backs, if you need massage therapy or physical therapy she will prescribe that instead, and she has the staff to support such issues.

Another thing to consider is subclinical hypothyroid, a blood test cannot detect this as well. Look up both on google (adrenal fatigue and subclinical hypothyroid). Again, you know your body best...the answer that "this just sometimes happens to you" is not a good enough diagnosis...

It could be a reaction to something in your diet. Some people discover in adulthood that they are sensitive to foods or additives. It could be MSG (which is in almost everything), wheat gluten, dairy. It could also be envirornmental allergies. Go to an allergist & get tested.

N., I wish I could tell you what is wrong with you ....I don't know the answer there. But, I will say that what the neurologist said to you is a red flag and a huge cop out. My (rather extensive) experience with doctors is that they tend to minimize symptoms and problems that don't fit nicely into a diagnostic niche. Most doctors don't want a patient like you b/c you make them feel like failures. There are of course exceptions and I hope you will stumble onto one of them.

Doing your own research is a very good idea. Checking into autoimmune disorders is a good place to start. Starting an overall healthier lifestyle plan might help. But you may be feeling too sick for that. Nothing more annoying than having someone tell you you'll feel better if you start working out when there is something physically wrong with you.

Off the top of my head your symptoms sound like they could be fibromyalgia - have you checked that out?

Good luck.

Hi N.,

Thankfully your tests have come back with nothing to worry about. Honestly I anything I write will just be opinion so please take it as such. I went through panic disorder for a long time (it's when you feel like you can't breath and then hyperventilate), and I rushed myself to the doctor thinking I was going to die. Sad but true, it was all in my head. I decided to major in psychology and through that I was able to conquer my disorder. It was fear that was driving my disorder. I am not saying your pain or dizziness is not real cause it is. I am just wondering if it's something caused by a hidden fear that manifests itself through dizziness and aches?
Have you ever heard of fire walkers? They are trained in the brain to believe the fire is not hot. You can actually hypnotize a person to walk on fire without feeling it! It's truly amazing what our minds do to us and what we can do with them.
My suggestion is to come up with a plan for when you feel this way. If you start to feel dizzy sit down and focus on something other than your dizziness. Do NOT feed into worry or question why it's happening. Think of a time in your life you were so incredibly happy and relive it. When you feel aches and pains, just admit they are there, say, "hey, i feel achey" or "wow that was a sharp pain" and leave it at that. Try this for a few weeks and see if there's a difference in how you feel altogether.
If the doctors have run tests then you can have some peace about it.
One more thing I'd like to mention, it could have something to do with your back. If there's something off in your back it causes stress on other parts of our body. Check out a chiropractor and tell them your symptoms. That may be the answer too!
Hope you feel really well soon!
Blessings, C.

Dear N.,

I'm sorry to hear about this, but I wanted to make a suggestion. I see a chiro/acupuncturist/nutritionist in Highland Park (I live in Elk Grove Village - it's worth the drive) named Dr. Timothy Voll. He does a type of muscle testing called Nutrition Response Testing that has helped define and conclusively solve some of the problems I was having that weren't being spotted by other doctors. I used to get dizzy on a regular basis, and had odd body aches and pains. No more!!

Good luck!
