My husband does it yearly on Christmas Eve for all the kids in our family. :) My little ones never recognized him. My oldest figured out it was him but I think she thought her dad was ACTUALLY Santa. :)
I always thought maybe one day my husband would dress up as Santa and maybe even pretend to be Santa for our kids (We have one two yo now, hopefully we'll have at least one more in the future. :) Like maybe even staging a "Santa came to the house" type scenario. I mentioned it the other day and he thought that was pretty extreme. It probably is but I still think it would be fun. I guess I got the idea from:
1) holiday commercials
2) this little old Norman Rockwell Christmas picture book that my mom still has, that had a scene of a skinny dude dressing up as santa with his wife helping him and the kids "catch" then. It was so cute and sweet.
Has YOUR husband/bf ever done this?? :)

Last year my kids set up my sons little spy cam in the livingroom trying to catch Santa. They thought they were super sneaky. My hubby heard them talking about it and decided to dress up as Santa. The looks on their faces when they watched the video and saw Santa were priceless!
No. I am pretty sure my children (at least the older one) would figure out that it was dad.
YES!! My DH has been white-headed/bearded since his 30s. When our younger son was in preschool, my DH was the Santa. Our son never, ever recognized his Daddy....it was wonderful & we have great photos of the event. After he "knew" the truth about Christmas, at some point, the photos were explained.....& now it's one of his favorite stories to share!
My DH also played Santa for the nieces/nephews one year....but one of the older kids spoiled it for the little ones. Brat child.
No, but I dressed up as Santa, for my job (I used to work at the CVS photolab). I did not like it because I was about 17 and back then I could not stand kids, plus I didn't volunteer for that and felt it was unfair to have been volunteered by someone else, considering that person was a guy and would have been more appropriate. His excuse was he was dark-skinned with dark eyes and I had pale skin and blue eyes, which is what people associate with Santa. The kids kept saying I was not fat enough and that Santa had white eyebrows, not black, so it wasn't the perfect match he had envisioned. I had to try to make a manly voice, but it didn't work out so well. I had to wear this outfit for 8 hours and be photographed with kids and it was very hot. Most kids were afraid of me, so we got maybe 30 shots in the 10 hours I worked, the rest of the time, I was bored.
On the other hand, my daughter's paternal grandparents have a neighbor that (voluntarily) dresses up as Santa every Christmas Eve and invites all the neighborhood adults, kids and their relatives to his house, and he will give each kid a gift. I am not sure where he gets the money from, because he buys over 50 gifts but all the kids walk out of his house with a full belly and a gift. He's in his mid-60s and still loves the look on kids' faces when they see him dressed up and handing out gifts, but the older kids do know it's him.
My point is, some people don't mind and even enjoy it, while others do mind. I think that as long as your husband doesn't have to wear a Santa outfit for TOO long, he should be fine, if he's ok with dressing up as Santa.
