Can you give me advice on a good family friendly beach front condo/hotel?
What fun things are there to do? My family and I are going to drive from Dallas to Destin in the summer for a four day vacation.

What can I do next?

Check out Sandestin. www.sandestin.com

Last time we went to Destin, we checked out this resort and loved it. It seemed very kid friendly with a lot to do.

Have a great trip!

We have been going now for about 20 years! LOVE Destin!

When we were growing up we stayed at a place called Edgewater. It is in a central location and has a grocery store very close...

At Edgewater they have condos that are privately owned and they rent them out. So, they have a full kitchen, laundry room, living rooms, all balcony's face the water, beds with linens, towels, etc. It is a great place! It is like a furnished apartment! We would go to the grocery store and get snacks, breakfast stuff, and lunch stuff and then we would go out to dinner at night.

Fuddpuckers was always a fun place...go early as the wait is long, but the area that you wait for a table is fun too! They have alligators in a swamp thing that kids love and usually have live bands playing at night.

Have fun!!

i grew up going there every summer and i LOVE destin!!! the white sand beaches are just beautiful! it gets pretty crowded in the summer, so expect some long waits at restuarants. definitely go to the back porch to eat one night and, if you can, stay in a a condo or a place that has a little kitchen so you aren't forced to eat out every meal. i'm not up to date on any of the great places to stay, but sand destin (may be one word) was always nice. i'm blanking on the place my friend's family always stays at, so you may get another comment from me if i remember it (i remembered!!! hidden dunes is the name). also, your 12 year old might like big kahuna's, which has water slides, games, putt putt and things like that. check it out first, you know how things change over time. anyway, hope this was at least somewhat helpful! enjoy your trip!!
