Hi ladies,
I've been wondering about bell circumcisions. Has anyone ever done this with their son? How do you feel about it? My first son healed just fine. I've heard this is alot less painful. My youngest brother actually had it. I'm just curious if it's a less painful way to go, why isn't it more common?
Thanks!

Our son, now 3, had the bell circumcision done a week or so after birth. Although at the time we thought this was a better way to go - If we have another son we will go with the "old fashioned" way of circumcising. As the skin starts to die off in the bell method, the bell starts to come off. Because of this we believe it left too much skin.

Ever since he was a toddler I've had to hold him down to clean his pee-pee, I couldn't tell if it actually hurt him or if he just didn't want me to touch it. Not until recently has this stopped. Now he takes showers or baths and I supervise him cleaning his own pee-pee and it's not a problem. But we still believe he has a little too much skin.

My middle son had the bell done. He ended up in the hospital for 4 days due to blood loss.

Due to this we went with a Rabbi for my 3rd son's circumcision. Out of my 3 son's the last one healed faster and did not even cry during the circumcision.

My oldest got his done in the hospital.

My first son had the plasty bell. My second son had a normal circumcision. We moved and so I had to switch docs for my second birth and the new doc only did things the old fashioned way. Either way seems fine as they both have normal looking outcomes. I think pain wise, my first son experienced less pain initially but more uncomfort for a longer period of time. My second son had more pain initially and much less uncomfort as it healed.

both my little boys had the bell and I prefer it over the other. It needs no special treatment like the other and the bell falls off in just a few days ands then its done with. My hospital does not do the bell in the hospital so at his 2 day dr. appt. we took him in the office to have it done. Does not take long and right after they did it it did not take long to stop him from crying.

I chose not to circumcise my son. I researched it a lot while pregnant and decided I didn't have the right to do that- that I should just leave it alone and let him decide for himself when he is older.

My one and only son had the plasty bell circumcision (I think that is what it was called). They put a little ring around the tip push it down and cut (in my best none medical description). It falls off in a few weeks and as long as take care of his daily care it will be fine. We did have one issue. his became red and sore so they removed it for him instead of waiting for it to fall off on its own. he is now almost 9 and perfectly fine. he is my first born child so I asked a lot of questions. I had a choice and to me this was the best option. When they returned him to my room he was wide awake. The nurse said it is mild pain but he did not cry.

Hope that helps.
