Hi Mommies :)
I was wondering if anyone has ever had a procedure called a Hyperoscopy to check for polyps in the Uterus? If so, I was hoping you might be able to share your experience with me or tell me a little bit about it? My OB/GYN is bringing me in for one as I have had no "normal" success with any birth control pills over the last year (cramping and breakthrough bleeding). The 2 different ones that I did regulate on were during the active portions of the pill packs :\. I have never had any problems with BCP in the past. Furthermore, I have also been taking a cocktail of 4 medications for post-partum, which I was diagnosed with after my son was born almost 3 years ago. One of those medications is Topamax, which can reduce the effectiveness of the BCP. However, none of my dosages are high on any of the meds I'm taking; I have never liked taking them. The pharmacist, as well as the doctor, doesn't suspect that low of a dosage would be the culprit for the breakthrough bleeding I've been experiencing either. After my son was born, I feel like my body just went berzerk- hormonally, in the way I look, the way I feel... does anyone else feel like this after having a son vs. having a daughter? My daughter was my first child.
And as far as the "depression" goes, after I had my son, I just felt a low I couldn't come out of. I never felt like I wanted to harm the baby or anything serious. I just felt a complete disconnection between my brain/thoughts and my heart/emotions. I never have felt so out of touch with myself ever in my life; THAT was terrible! The OB/GYN gave me Lexapro which helped to "balance" me a bit, but it came along with it's own horrible side effects, such as the 25+ pounds it packed on me and the total lack sexual of desire, for example. In January of '07, I thought I was feeling pretty good and desperately wanted to get off these things, so I contacted my doctor and weaned just as I was instructed. I suffered from the most excrutiating headaches I ever felt in my life. The mood swings and the anger and the impatience was completely out of character for me. Things didn't get any better before I ended up coming off these Lexapro, worse than when I went on them!!! I found a different doctor who specializes and understands these depression medications and works ONLY in this field. I thank God for him everyday because so many doctors really have no clue what they are giving to people. He told me I never should have been given the Lexapro in the first place. Now I sit here and I just don't understand how I, having absolutely NO REASON in my life to even be depressed in the first place, end up in a worse state now than where I began? Has that happened to any of you? I am afraid to go off this current cocktail of meds because of before; my blood test was great~ I just have that concern for my liver and kidnies :\ I guess I feel like there is so much intertwined in what feels like this mess that is me right now, there is no way to give it all shortly. For those of you who have read this far, THANK YOU & BLESS YOU for taking the time to help! I'm kinda freaked out and this Hyperoscopy procedure seems like it hurts. The office didn't say anything about painkillers or someone else driving me... nothing like that. It is comforting to know that there are so many caring hearts out there. I thank all of you from the bottom of mine!! :)

Boy can I relate. I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. My prayers are with you. I have battled with depression for the last one and a half years (although not postpartum) and discovered it was a result of low estrogen levels. I apparently had hit perimenopause. I went on bioidenticals for about 3 months, and was weaned off and am now taking three herbal supplements called Maca Active, Sex Essentials, and Happy Day. Additionally I practice EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), do relaxation yoga, radically changed my diet to an alkaline diet (including alkaline water), and get accupuncture done once a week. I can't say which of the above has helped, but I feel amazing. I am joyful, content, and peaceful for the first time in two years. And my energy levels are high. Additionally, my sex drive has increased and I am now producing my own vaginal fluids which makes intercourse less painful. I'd be happy to give the names of doctors, etc., if you want it.

Happy mothers day J.!

I can only respond about the depression. I'm a spiritual person myself and prefer natural medicines opposed to pharmaceuticals. Western medicine doctors often give you pills to stop the pains or problems but don't always find the root cause of the pain/problem to make it permanently go away. I suggest that you see an accupuncturist or a Naturalpathic doctor. I have an awesome accupuncturist (who actually fixed my problem so I could get pregnant after 2 years of TTC that included 3 failed IUI's and a failed IVF). I know he treats depression. I am happy to give you his website/phone if you'd like to check him out. He is located in Irvine now. Who knows, if you have Polyps, he could probably fix that too! Good luck!

After reading your "a little about me" this program came to mind. Take a look. I think that you may be helped without the medicine cocktail your on which may be exacerbating your condition. I'm not against using medication but sometimes i think we need to address what happens in and to our bodies with a more holistic approach. hope this website helps.

I've had no experience with meds, but for other reasons had a Hyperoscopy with NO pain at all. Polyps were discovered and removed and literally changed my life for the better.
