So you are pregnant, then? If so than, yes, I do know what you are talking about. That is the worst pain and practically only discomfort I had when I was pregnant. Suprising your doctor didn't mention it, but my doctor told me it is because the baby is slowly moving down, getting ready for delivery. But as it does so, and it doesn't hurt for all women, just as their anatomy is different, your pelvic area is widening, so it is stretching and sometimes can pinch a nerve, both of which can cause the pain. For me it was painful to sleep on my side. I had to have a pillow between my knees to help alleviate the pain. And getting up in the morning was a pain as well. But fortunately, once the baby came the pain went. Hope that helps and good luck.
