My Mom-in-law is coming in around Thanksgiving, plus, I'd love to know of interesting "daytrip" or overnight destinations for a family on a tight budget.

Have you been to the Lake? Have you over-nighted? What do you recommend for nice/inexpensive overnight? What activities are a must?

Thanks!

I have not been there in a long time but I don't think there is much to do during this time period.

Our neighbors and a couple of friends have homes there and they don't go anytime past October. Are you taking your own boat? My neighbor took his boat out of Lake Texoma due to the zebra mussels that are causing so many problems.

A few years ago, hubby sponsored a guided fishing trip for a couple of customers and that went well but it was in June.

I used to live on Lake Texoma back in college. I still have many friends in the Madill & Ardmore area. I have to say though that the Lake is typically a more summer time environment. There weren't many tourists or things to do during the colder months. Not sure how your mom likes duck hunting or fishing but I can recommend some people for that if you like :-) I can find some info out if want me to - just send me a pm & I'll ask around.
On a sidenote: I also used to live in Fort Worth. There's lots to do in the metroplex during Thanksgiving...

As long as you realize that it's probably going to be snowy, icy, or hot as heck at Thanksgiving then you might find it fun.

There are a lot of other places I'd go instead. Unless you're hearty campers that enjoy roughing it and being out in nature. I'm not so that doesn't appeal to me.
