I used to live right down the road from Delray. Beautiful area, beautiful beaches. It's really one big non-stop metropolis from Miami up through West Palm. Delray is tucked right in there. Go for it!
Hi,
My boyfriend & I are planning a mini vaca for our 2 year anniversary. He works at a vacation company so we are lucky he gets to use one of their resorts :-) They have a resort, in Delray Beach, FL about 3 hours away from us. I have never been but was wondering if anyone has ever been there? How is the beach? Is the water clear? Thanks!

I actually live AND work in Delray Beach. The downtown area is very charming. If you stroll up and down Atlantic Avenue, you'll pass all kinds of shops, restaurants and bars. You keep heading east and there's the beach (with more restaurants along A1A). I would recommend a nice romantic dinner for the two of you at Dada. It's one of my favorite restaurants and the setting is very romantic. But make a reservation.
Depending on when you go, there may be some kind of event downtown. Sometimes there are festivals, etc. They close down the streets. It's pretty cool. So you should check the website - http://www.i-love-delray-beach.com/things-to-do-in-delray...
Enjoy!
I have been to Delray a few times. I really like the beaches, they extend for a long time and unlike South Beach and other beaches here, Delray is never crowded. As Angela mentioned, the downtown area is very nice, it gets lively at night and has a nice nightlife, but the people there tend to be preppy and casual, rather than outlandish like in South Beach, so don't pack a really wild outfit and a ton of makeup or you may stick out like a sore thumb. I would say most people out at night are in their 30s and up, not that many young kids and teens, which is cool. I would definitely check out the beaches. I also like to drive up A1A and check out the beautiful waterfront mansions and condos, if you're into that type of thing. I have heard of many good restaurants around the downtown area, I think one of the ones a friend suggested was an Italian spot, I just wish I could remember the name, maybe it's the one Angela recommended? You can also check out restaurants, clubs, etc. on Yelp, based on high reviews. Also, the Marriott across the beach is very nice and I have heard they give great massages, if you're interested. Enjoy your stay!
my cousin lives there he loves it, at any time of the year!
