Halloween Costumes for Young Boys

I have 2 boys, 21 months and 3 1/2. They are in daycare right now and will be having a Halloween party in a few weeks. I am not a big fan of Halloween, but would like for them to be able to dress up. I would also like for their outfits to coordinate somehow. I can sew a little and would not mind to have to make it myself, which would probably be a little cheaper. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

A friend of mine, who has boys about that age difference, had hers dressed up as Thing one and Thing two--from Dr. Seuss. I think she had costumes--but you could easily use sweats or something, and just sew (or glue) a white circle and write on it. It was super cute. Have fun!!

Batman and Robin? Are they into certain characters from TV or movies? That is always cute. Sometimes buying the costumes can be cheaper surprisingly enough. Walmart and Target have some pretty good deals. Good luck!

working in daycare i must say PLEASE dont put a costume on them. the best thing to do is be a puppy or a kitty or cow something like that. get some black pants and black shirt and paint their faces. costumes are a pain when you have 15 of them in one room and the kids are trying to eat or play. keep it simple!

Cowboys would be easy...jeans, plaid shirt, bandana, hat and you could make a vest and a big star. Jeans and shirt could go into the regular wordrobe when you are done and the other items would be great for playing with later in the year.

I looked into making a halloween costume for my 18 month old, and with the price of fleece it is honestly cheaper to get something off Craig's List or eBay that someone has only worn one time. Party City is having a sale on a few halloween costumes for toddlers that are half off so they're only 9.99 - or you can use the coupons they sent out in last week's flyer. I'd check the websites and see what's out there that might coordinate (Batman and Robin? Phinneus and Ferb? Luke Skywalk and Yoda?) - good luck!

A very good friend of mine just moved to Abingdon last spring.

My kids have been book characters, Harry POtter, Madeline and Raggedy Anne.
We've been a flower and a bumblebee. Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Piglet.
Most of my costumes are made with sweatsuits. You can buy paints and turn them into any animal with a little running stitch and imagination. My girls have been a skunk and a chipmunk.
My son has been a sailor and a Marine. My friend dressed her little ones up as Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam.
Have fun, I love putting together Halloween costumes

Hi S.,

My boys are 18 months apart. We've done pirates, Batman & Robin, red and black spiderman, and Super Heroes (Wolverine & Superman). This year they want to be Star Wars characters. You can also do police and firemen, Buzz & Woody from Toy Story, sherrif and outlaw, etc.

Good luck and have fun!

They could be puppy-dogs -- sew some patches of felt onto a jogging suit for a spotted dog; stuff a strand of fabric with batting for a tail; and make a tie-on hat/hood with floppy ears. My kids love theirs. We don't do Halloween either -- they just love to dress up!

Phoenix was a fireman last Halloween and his costume was big enough that it will fit him this year. :) You could do that and a little policeman or batman and robin...do they have any favorite cartoon characters?

How about a scare-crow and pumpkin? Or, you may want to just paint their faces with matching outfits.
Did you try going on-line to see different costumes?
Good luck and God bless
