Hello! My DS is going to be a cowboy for Halloween and now I need to choose a costume for myself. I may not be dressed up when we take him out at night, but I do need a costume for work. I am a 2nd grade teacher, so it needs to be appropriate for a school setting. Ideas?

What can I do next?

Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, Mother Goose, Darth Vader or Clone Trooper (the boys will go crazy for that!) The Cat and the Hat, Curious George, Winnie the Pooh (Milne not Disney) Mary Poppins, Pipi Longstockings, Scooby Doo or Garfield, or someone in history that is related to the subject(s) you teach, for instance, if you teach science, Madame Curie...history, "Martha Washington" you get the idea.

What about a cowgirl, horse or a cow? If you are a horse, you could cover one of those child carriers worn on your back in brown/black fabric as if it were a saddle and carry him around in it.

We were shopping for Thing 1 Thing 2 toddler costumes for our kids online, and saw a Cat In The Hat costume for adults. I bet your 2nd graders would love it, this year and for years to come.

Search for halloween costumes, adult, cat in the hat, dr. seuess (sp?), and I'm sure you'll run into it!

Sounds fun!

Do you get Parents magazine? They had a bunch of simple, super-cute, easy to make costumes for kids and parents.

How about a cat? That way it is cute and easy to move in while you are at school, and it is not totally embarrassing! My daughters preschool teacher dressed as one last year and I thought that is was really cute. She said she just found an old pair of black pants and actually stiched a tail to the back so it wouldn't fall off all day. Then she just wore a black shirt, a headband with cat ears, and painted her face with whiskers and a nose! Simple!
