Hi, Does anyone have any recommendations? I usually get my hair cut and highlighted every 8 weeks.

Ever try maybe going to a good cosmotology school? There is one next to Wal-Mart on Randall in Elgin. Try to ask for someone that is graduating soon. Good luck!

There is a place called Klips for Kids on Wise Road in Schaumburg. The name of the place is misleading, but it also says, "And parents too!" This is the best place to go for kids cuts, but one time I decided to have mine done and I was so happy with it. It was not expensive at all and I had a cut and color. The best part is I could go during the day with the kids because they have a play area and the kids never want to leave.
I know your baby is little still, but if you bring your stroller and just park her by the kids area, she will probably enjoy watching the other kids play and they usually play a kids show on the tv too. It's the BEST!
I hope you check it out and enjoy!

There's The Salon Professional Academy in Elgin (on Randall by Walmart). It's associated with Redken New York and is a training school, so your cut and color might take a bit longer than going to a normal salon, but it's a whole lot cheaper--$9 for a cut and I want to say $15 for a color. They have instructors who check and if you know exactly how you want your hair done and aren't afraid to speak up if you're not completely satisfied (sometimes the girls are a bit conservative in the lengths they cut off), it's a great place to go. If you want more info, let me know!

My hair grows very quickly and now the roots come in gray and need bi-weekly touch-ups as opposed to the every-3-to-6 months I used to visit the stylist. I decided to not spend all of that money and time and to dye it myself with a very gentle product. The roots can be touched up in the half-hour/40 minutes before showering and my hair is nice and shiny. I've been using Herbatint, a gel haircolor, and unlike some others it can be used more than once. It's at Whole Foods and other natural food stores.

Hey M.,
I'm not sure what type of place you go to now, but if it is a regular hairstylist, not a big shop, she may let you purchase your own hair color kit and bring it in. Ask and see what she would charge you then. Otherwise, maybe you could get your mom or a friend to come to your house to do it. There are lots of great kits out there now.
Another thing you might consider is when getting only a hair cut, just get it washed and cut, not dried and styled. Usually if it is styled you pay more. That would be for the times you are not having coloring done.
Good luck, finding a new stylist isn't a fun thing when you like who you have.
