Haircut Pictures

Hi!

Does anyone

a) know where to find realistic hair-do pictures? The ones in the salon books always seem to be wacky definitely not everyday mom styles. And surprisingly it's the same story searching on the internet. I know what I'm looking for but just can't find a picture of it.

b) know of a great affordable (no more than $20) hairstylist/salon in the St. Paul area?

Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

If you want something other than a trim and want a cute hair style it's more than $20bucks.

If you find a decent hairsalon usually the girls doing the cuts can tell you what looks good on you or understand what you want.

I have a inverted bob and the only ppl who don't completely screw it up are when I go somewhere and spend closer to $30 for a haircut. I've tried cheaper salons doesn't work. And I'm not stuck up or all uppity either I'm just a regular stay at home mom who is financially challenged at times.

I can recommend two different girls who cut my hair but they cost close to $30 for a cut, they always have great recommendations on what I should do etc.

Fantastic Sams, Great Clips those are good for a trim but nothing else.

I've found that if you go to google images and type in (for example) short haircuts a lot of really great photos pop up. Or medium hair cuts, depending on your hair length and what you want. It's a great place to get ideas. I have a couple of pics printed for my hair appt tomorrow. If you have a cut in mind, you could start keeping your eyes open when you're flipping through a magazine. I have even been tempted to ask a woman if I could take a picture with my camera phone but I thought that might be too freaky...but I guess if it was someone you knew she may not mind.
I agree that $20 for a dependable haircut is going to be hard to find. I have a friend who goes to a woman and pays $30 and her hair is adorable. You may need to up that hair budget just a few dollars if you can. Or perhaps you have a friend who cuts hair and you can do something in trade. My stylist does this a lot...she trades cuts with her accupuncurist (sp?) and masseuse. I don't know if you have a skill you could trade?

I see Tracy Rikess -- she works out of her basement but my whole family goes to her (I've been seeing her since I was little and she was at Maximilliano on Grand). She might not be under $20 (depends on your hair) but she's much less expensive than salons. ###-###-#### in St. Paul on Onida Ave (bwt. W.7th and Grand Hill areas).

Have you looked at InStyle.com's free celebrity hair style makeover? Just go to their website, create an account, upload a photo of yourself, and you can "try on" different hairstyles. It isn't completely realistic, but it is fun, and a good diversion when your kids are napping. Also, you could buy a hairstyle magazine (they sell them pretty much anywhere...Walgreens, Target, grocery stores) and for a few dollars, you have a concrete reference image for a stylist.
