TreSemme extreme hold. I use wash cloth on my forhead before I spray anything and leave the room before breathing in the fumes.
My daughter needs to use hair spray for dance recitals but she breaks out in a red, itchy rash on her neck and scalp when we use it. Does anyone have a recommendation for hair spray that might not irritate sensitive skin?
Thanks!

Free and Clear makes a hairspray which should do the trick. Snyders or Target may have it on the shelf or could order it. You can always get it online. I have extremely sensitive skin and have to avoid most hair products because they are not only itchy leave little red "pimples" or spots on my scalp and hair line. It took me years to figure out the I can't use shampoo with SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulfate) and most conditioners. Until I did I always seem to have the one or two annoying "pimple" on my chest and shoulders. I even found a hairdresser that is really careful to use certain products on my head. I used to go nuts with itching after getting highlights because the stuff that they were using on roots made me crazy. There are a lot of SLS or Sulfate-free shampoos on the market but I just find it easier to use FREE and CLEAR shampoos and conditioners and soaps. The shampoo keeps your hair really clean but I need to use the conditioner as well or its too drying. Unfortunately, if your daughter is sensitive now, it will probably only get worse as she gets older. Good luck.
The Original Sprouts line has a hairspray I think. No unnatural anything, no irritants. Its pricey, but if she only needs it for recitals it should last a long time.
Don't know for sure, but you might try Aveda products. It's the only hairspray I'll use these days.
Can you restyle her hair so that it doesn't require spraying?
I was a teen in the 80s and fried every strand I had with hairspray and curling irons. Ever since I let my own hair do its own thing (with a nice style/cut) I've been much happier and it looks better.
Just a thought!
