If you rip out hair by the roots it takes a long time for your body to make a new root and new hair. If you cut hair, it grows about 1/2" a month. 2 weeks is NOT long enough to see anything. It may take 6 months for that patch to fill in.
Strange I admit, but my 2 year old ripped out a strip of hair with his pacifier. That day he gave them up. Anyway, I think it has been at least a month and he still has a strip of hair missing. There is some sign of hair but it just is not in enough to be filled in. The question is, how long should it take to grow in? When a kid rips out their hair, how long does it take to grow back?

Neither of my kids have ever pulled a big chunk of hair out, but I did lose all of mine a year ago to chemo. It takes new hair about 3-4 weeks to grow back in. At least when it's lost to chemo, it comes in very baby fine and takes several months to thicken-up. I would think you'd be fine seeing some growth in the next few weeks.
as long as he didn't damage any folicals there should be noticable regrowth in 3 or 4 months. make sure he is getting all of his vitamins and it will grow back a little sooner
Similar issue wiht our daughter. The baby fine hair should start coming back in within 4 - 6 weeks and should catch up to the rest of his hair (depending on the length, within the next 6 to 12 months.
Good luck, remember, it's not permanent.
