I remember from my first baby that I lost a lot of hair about 3 months after I delivered, but I can't remember how long that went on for.

This time I feel like I may go bald!!

How long did it last for you?

PS- I had to do a full chem panel twice this year for other reasons and there are no other outstanding medical problems detected.

What can I do next?

I had heard that it usually lasts about 4-6 months after birh but I was about a year before it finally stopped coming out in chunks. I remember always having to brush my hair before I got in the shower and then bringing a comb in with me and having to comb it out while wet to collect all the clumps of hair that came out so that ot didnt go down the drain. I was also constantly worried that it was going to end up wrapped around mt new babys fingers or toes while she slept. It was really bad so I had my thyroid levels checked a few times - it always came back normal but man did I lose a lot. Im pregnant again so its all thick and full but Im sure ill lose it all again after I have this baby

So normal to loose hair if your breast feeding it may still continue to last for a while longer. The best for me was getting a haircut 2 weeks after I had my babies,I go for a new semi short to short hairstyle everytime & love it.It makes my hairloss less noticeable.I have really thick hair that I like thinned out after it begins to stop shedding it grows so fast. There really isn't a concern I did ask my Ob though when I was in the hospital after baby for something else I was losing it by the handfuls he told me i'll be fine it's hormones & stress

You're not alone. My youngest (2nd baby) is 7mo now. I still feel like my hair is always falling out. I got it cut about a month or so ago and it doesn't seem as bad. I did have a physical a few weeks ago & even checked my thyroid, all levels good. I definitely don't remember losing this much hair the first time around!

That is so funny that you bring this up. After my two girls I was fine but around 7 months after having my boy, I would fill my brush with 1 stroke to the head...it was horrible. But it stopped maybe a month ago or so. I'll see a strand here or there in the shower but nothing like before. My boy is now 11 months so this hair loss lasted a couple of months. It was so scary to think I was gonna go bald. Good luck and hope it doesn't last too long!

Hair loss is common 4-6 months after delivery. If the hair loss persists after this time period, it may be normal, or it may be a sign of hormone imbalance or thyroid dysfunction. I had the same experience after each of my 3 were about 6 months old. I was sure the pile of hair on my bathroom floor meant I was going bald. Nurse Midwife Mom of 3
