Hey Mommas!

Your opinions/experiences please- how long did it take to get your hair and skin back to normal? Is this even possible? LOL

I know that with age, dietary changes and hormonal changes things won't be exactly like they were before, but lots of my hair fell out after I stopped breastfeeding and it still hasn't come back! It's been a year and a half!!!!!! Should I wait longer? I'm considering seeing my doctor cause who knows, maybe I'm really losing my hair (gulp).

I had beautiful think, curly hair that I didn't appreciate until it was gone :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks! I have an appointment for blood work on monday because the doctor agreed with you ladies that it's worth taking a look at my thyroid.

I appreciated your help!

A good b-complex supplement could help. Let me know if you would like a recommendation.

I agree it could be your Thyroid, maybe you should talk to your doc about getting a test done.

After I gave birth I was loosing hair left and right, my hair stylist suggested Biotin (vitamin). I started taking it and noticed a difference within a week....you have to take at least 1000MG a day but it is worth it. You can get it at walmart in the green bottle (natures valley or something).

there are other reasons for hair loss, thyroid problems and stuff. Seeing your doctor for a quick blood test might be a good idea, just so you know it's not a medical reason you're losing it.

Def talk to your doctor, but I know for me, my hair did not fill back in until almost 3 years later, and it is still thinner than it was. My skin never got back to normal, it is so oily now and it never was until I had my second son.

Hormones do funny things, and many people have different hair after a baby. If it is just thinner than before, that may be your new hair, if you are still losing it though, I would talk to your doctor.

I would have your thyroid checked.
Hair loss is normal, but not as far out as you're describing.

I found out that I have thyroid issues as a result of my first pregnancy. Hair loss is a symptom of that.

Hormones Hormones Hormones they are a mess & will mess with us..Time to get a hair cut maybe a dye job..Skin I think it'll never be the same mine has turned into redness & sensitivity the pregnancy mask is permanent,my hair it grows like wild fire I just had it cut 2 weeks ago & need it cut again to the same length I just cut she can't believe how fast it grows (I have a new hair style & I keep it up)You may want to askl about your hair if it is an issue & it's been that long but like you said age diets hormonal changes stress all plays a role you could also have a thyroid issue.I lost my hair in clumps after a month of giving birth that lasted for awhile it eventually even out I did get a haircut ate great breastfeed took vitamins

It could be your thyroid but I think it's often just an unpleasant side effect of motherhood. It seemed like I was losing hair for YEARS, too. It will stop falling out eventually. I was told not to wash it everyday and to pull it up loosely if you can.

Pregnancy can really affect hormones and thyroid function. I would seek out a great endocrinologist and think about changing your diet. I started having hair-loss after my first pregnancy (10 yrs ago) and since changing my diet a year ago, it has really lessened a lot.
