It gets better! I was the same way...after my son I lost hair, but I have a 7 month old daughter and after I had her the hair loss was immense...it seemed much worse than the first time...it continues to get better! Hang in there~
does anybody know what to do about massive hair loss after a pregnancy. I don't remember it being this bad with my first child. I can probably make a child's wig out of all the hair i have lost in the past 2 weeks.

Hmmm...make sure you never run out of swiffers to sweep the hair off the floor?
Mine started falling out really bad around 4 months and finally slowed back to normal shedding around 7 or 8 months. I used to have a very thick head of hair and now clips that would not hold all of my hair before actually slip because they are too loose.
The good news? It is growing back now (my daughter is 11 months). I have LOTS of new regrowth all over my head.
The bad news? I have LOTS of 3 inch long pieces of hair that stick out along my hairline and I can't figure out what to do with these unruly flyaways. How long until they blend back in with the rest of my hair...?
Hello S.,
I am a mother of 3, and my hair fell out really bad after my last one. She is 6 months. I took my prenatul vitamins, and didn't color my hair. It finally stopped about 3 weeks ago. I was real scared that I was going to have bald spots! It did stop, good luck! M.
Hello. Sorry to hear you are having this problem. I had it after I suffered a miscarriage. I went to the hair stylist and she told me to buy a shampoo and conditioner called Nioxin it was made for cancer patients that lose their hair and now it for any kind of hair lose problem. It works WONDERFULLY. It is a little pricy but I only had to purchase one set and it was amazing. I could only find it at the hair salon. Hope this helps.
just to let you know on average humans loose about 100 strands of hair, when a woman gets pregante her hair doesnt fall out unless it breaks...now that you arent pregnate anymore you are back to loosing hair agin since your hormaones are changing.....it is shocking since you have spent the last nine months not loosing hair...it is very normal!!!!!!
I don't know about hairloos after pregnancy-
but I am 13wks and seems to be losing a lot of hair. I dont remember losing this much with my first pregnancy; but its really bad his time around. It may also be because my hair is much longer this time around....
I have heard that if your thyroid is off that can have some effects; but not sure.

Get your thyroid checked. It is a blood test.

my second son is 1 year old and I am still losing my hair by the hand full, I honestly cant figure out why I am not bald yet. It seems to slow down during the month and when it becomes "that time" I loose in clumps. My Dr said its "normal;" good luck A.
Dear S.,
My hair fell out like crazy for a while. I lost so much hair that when it came back it looked like I had bangs in the front. I honestly had to clear the drain out in the shower everyday. This is super normal!! If you are noticing bald patches you could have a thyroid imbalance. It will come back! K.
I have lost a lot of hair too. I have a 5 month old and it didn't start right away. It gets better. just be gentle when you brush or pull your hair back. just wait till your baby pulls it out!!ha! must be hormones though! I had really thick hair during pregnancy and I was loving it! now it is turning back to it's normal self and I am like "was my hair like this before?" I was shocked.
HI S.,
It is totally normal for you to be losing hair. With all of the hormone changes that have happened as of late! You grow lots of extra hair while you are pregnant. If you are nursing, this could be a sign of needing a little extra protein. But again, unless you can see patches of scalp, pretty much normal. I would just make sure you're eating a wholesome diet, taking your vitamins and if it continues to concern you call your doctor.
Take care,

Hi S.,
I had experienced hair loss with all three pregnancies and it did seem to get worse with each child. It is hormonal and your hair will grow back. You need to stay on prenatel vitamins while your body is trying to get back to normal. And make sure you're getting enough sleep. You know sleep when the baby sleeps, (yeah right, like we have time) I realized by the time I had my third that my children and my health were more important than the dishes and the dust. Before you know it they'll be on their own and out in the world and you'll still have the dishes and the dust. So rest and enjoy your life now, the less stress you have the healthier both you and your baby will be and your hair will start to come back. Also cute shag cuts are big right now which can camoflage the new growth very well. Hope I helped. remember vitamins and rest.
Try using a shampoo & conditioner called Nioxin. Its a litte pricey & can only be found in salons (or online). Its worth every penny. A lot of cancer patients use it b/c it stimulates your pores & helps your hair grow strong & healthy. I highly recommend it.
I have had the same thing going on with my 3rd, I lost a little with each child the last one being the worst. My Dr said it was from a compbination of hormones from having babies and stress. It was suggested to me to try to take a multi vitamin and get more rest...lol thats funny, I don't know how anyone expects a mother to get more rest.
