Hi Moms. i wanted to know if any moms are experiencing what i am. My daughter is 8 months old and i am still experiencing a lot of hair loss. It started about 3 months after i gave birth. i am loosing so much hair and i really do not know what to do anymore. I am still nursing about 6 times a day, so i am not sure if that is contributing to the hair loss. what can i do to try to prevent this? any help is appreciated. my hair has thinned out so much.

What can I do next?

Hi C.,

I also recommend having a physical, where they will check your thyroid levels. Having a baby can throw your thyroid out of whack, and that controls all of your hormones, can cause you to lose hair, gain weight, etc. It is not uncommon! My baby is 10 months old, and a month ago, I found out that my thyroid is underactive, which explained a lot of things that could no longer be blamed on nursing since I had recently stopped. Good luck!

C.-You and I have spoken before.

I am assuming your hair loss is from a hormonal imbalance and your body is very acidic. You have have key nutrients that you do not get enough of which is a common cause of hair loss. NO drug will fix it either.

You can regenerate hair growth with a few simple adjustments in your daily lifestyle.

1. Add some really good Omega 3's and 6's. Wild Northern Atlantic Salmon, coconut oil (this is the best), avocados and nuts and seeds.
2. Get an alkalizer for your water whether you add baking soda or get pH drops.
3. Do a really good thorough detox-that is easy with a few ingredients. heavy metal toxicity is also playing a role in your challenges.
4. Get on a good probiotic (NOT yogurt)

Hi C., I had a lot of hair loss after having all three of my kids. remember that beautiful hair you got while pregnant??? Well guess what....we lose it after it is all over. Although if you are concerned, talk to a doctor about it. Those hormones can make you nuts. As you get older, Wait until the mood swings come on. Oh and am I ever going through them.LOL My poor family.

Have your thyroiid checked, especcially if it does not stop in the next four months. With oth of my pregnancies, it took about a year and a half for my hair to stop falling out in handfuls, and to regain my normal texture. It also broke off horribly at the ends both times, but once I cut it off it seemed to also bounce back.

Talk to your doctor. It could be your thyroid. I have a friend who went through it after having both of her sons.

Hi C.,

I did not breastfeed my daughter so I can't comment on if that is contributing to your problem. However, I have a 19 month old and my hair has just now stopped falling out and is finally growing back. According to my hair stylist, some women lose more hair than others with all of the hormonal changes. This is not something I ever discussed with my Dr, but you might want to.

Good luck!

C.
