Hair itches in one spot all the time and breaks at the ends leaving a patch - what could that be? I am thinking the worst - nerves, tumor..any advice is appreciated.

What can I do next?

Maybe it's dry? Maybe try rubbing oil or something on the spot that itches. Could be stress,

Could be ring worm which is really a fungal infection.
If it is, it should be easy to clear up with some anti-fungal medicine.

Probably just dry, and maybe it's the shampoo or product that you are using. Is this a new issue for you?

It could be stress, and you could just not be drinking enough water too.

If you are concerned make an apointment for your doctor and talk to them and see what they say.

My hair itches in that little dip at the base of the skull. Especially when I wear pony tails and sweat in the garden.

Maybe its lice. :p Just kidding.

Sometimes I just start scratching and don't realize I broke the skin, then it really itches.

Have you been abducted by aliens lately, they do some pretty strange things.....yeah, bored at work.......

Seriously though, do you wear your hair in a pony tail all the time? That can do it.

I have some sort of psoriasis in my hair, only on one side, near the bottom that is what you described. You should go see a dermatologist and have them evaluate you. There are shampoos and cremes that you use at night that clear it up. But it does come back, especially when you are under stress. Don;t bother with the over the counter stuff, it doesn't work-go prescription. : ) Good luck.
