Hair Falling Out - Red Lodge,MT

A few months after my son was born, my hair started falling out. I know this is hormonal, and happens to many women after a child is born. However, my son just turned 2, and my hair has not stopped falling out! There are no bald patches, it just keeps getting thinner. I was lucky to have had a VERY thick head of hair before this started happening, so I had some to spare, but I want it to stop. I have been to the doctor several times--they checked my thyroid, which was normal, and told me they think it is hormonal, but have no suggestions besides putting me on the pill, which I don't want to do. Has anyone has this happen? What did you do?

What can I do next?

J.,
I hate to admit this but my son will be 3 in December and my hair is still falling out. It's hard to adjust to but it is still happening. Cant really suggest anything but it seems its mostly around my hairline that I notice it the most. Sorry I cant offer any assitance but maybe a little comfort that you are not alone. =0)

Try Nioxin. Its a professional product you can find in most salons.

How's your stress level? I know my hair falls out more when I am stressed out -- it's one of the things that I watch for to keep my stress in check. If you are stressed out, then you need to think about what you can do to relieve that stress. Exercise and healthy diet help me, along with some quiet meditation time every day (not easy with 2 kids, but possible!). And, while we hate to admit it, women can be affected by the same genetic traits that make men go bald (although we ususally just end up with thin hair, not baldness). Your son is old enough now that it's not the build up of hair from pregnancy. If you are really worried about it and don't want to take the pill just because they "think" it's hormonal, have them test your hormone levels to find out.
Good luck to you!

I've had 3 children and now I say, "If 3 hairs fall out in the same place, I'll have a bald spot!" I have to take a good vitamin (I still do prenatal from Whole Foods) and keep a healthy diet. When I don't do this, it seems I find hair clogging my shower drain and my brush fills with hair pretty quickly.
