H1N1 Vaccine While Pregnant

I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and my DR called and stated they have the vaccine if I would like to to come and get it. I was wondering if any other expecting moms have had the vaccine and if there were any side effects.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I got the vaccine yesterday and so far no side effects and baby is fine. I was informed that the vaccine did not have any level of mercury in it.

My daughter is due on Jan. 15th and she had the H1N1 about 3 weeks ago. Her doctor highly recommended it for her and the baby. She had no side effects and they told her that the baby would be protected after birth.

I am 37 weeks and had the shot a week ago. Absolutely no issues. I also had the seasonal shot a while back with no issues and my husband and son both go the flu.

Check out the info on www.mercola.com about the flu shot. We are being used as guinea pigs for this vaccine. It has not had adequate testing and the carrier solution contains many substances that are very harmful. My Dad was a chemist and he always told us there is no "safe level" of mercury that we can ingest. It is a mystery to me why doctors do not advise people to do things to keep their immune systems strong like adequate sunlight, vitamin C & D3, exercise etc., rather than inject them with dangerous and untested vaccines. I guess it's all about the money.
Be careful, listen to your "gut" and do some research.

My doctor had them available & suggested I get it. I didn't have any side effects. Except a sore arm ;-)

I got it on Thursday. I got my flu shot the week before (for the first time ever). As far as immediate side effects, there were none. I am 29 weeks and after much thought decided that the benefit definitely outweighed the risk. With my immune down, I just couldn't chance getting either. Also, I had my 1 and 3 year old vaccinated especially since the baby will come at the peak of flu season. I am a SAHM, but my girls to to MDO three days a week. Couldn't chance anything coming home.

I had a very difficult time deciding what to do. I am 33 weeks pregnant, holistic by nature, and faced the same situation. In the end, I decided that the risks of getting the virus were far greater for my baby and me than the risks of the vaccine. I made sure it was thimerisol-free before I got it, and I had no side effects. The soreness in my arm was even less than that with the regular flu shot. I also heard from a friend's colleague, who is pregnant and works for the CDC. She wholeheartedly encourages all pregnant moms to get vaccinated - the choice is definitely an individual one... research all you can, talk to your partner and doctor, and look inside for your personal answer.

NOTE: sorry I didn't see your response before writing this. But there might be other info you may want to know.

As long as you are not allergic to eggs, you should get the vaccine. I would if I were pregnant. I have 3 kids and they all got vaccinated yesterday. My youngest is not quite 2 yrs old and I have a 7 and soon to be 10 year old.

If you have any problems with vaccines in the past, let them know and what your doctor said. My youngest needed a mist in the nose and my older kids needed the shot. We have to go back after 28 days for them to get another booster shot.

I'd get the H1N1 shot myself if I was allowed. However, we all got the regular seasonal flu shots in Sept. I had the flu one year on my daughter's BD party so I always get the flu shots for us now.

My friend who is a nurse thinks that the H1N1 has already reached it's peak, but since you are pregnant, you are at higher risk for problems or complications since you are pregnant. Hope that helps.

R.,
Please do your homework on this. Or you can take it from moms who have vaccine injured kids. I am NOT anti vaccine but there are safer schedules and the ingredients in themselves are frightening. The H1N1 vaccine for a pregnant woman is scary. The amount of mercury in this shot is harmful. This is a known fact and they (CDC & FDA, ETC...) took out the mercury (thimersal) (well they said they did and there is still trace amounts in them) from the childhood vaccines because it is a neurotoxin and put them in Flu shots and target pregnant women and children. Does that make sense to you? NO, it shouldn't! PLEASE do not listen to mainstream media. You can email me and I will send you more websites or whatever you need to help you.
If you google Dr. mercola you will come across some good info on the subject. They also have a flu mist but that has the LIVE virus in it and can be spread through sneezing or rubbing your nose and touching something. I live everyday with a vaccine injured child and if I could help one person not have to go thru what I have then I feel better about it.
Email me if you would like more info.
L. :)

Hi R.,
Please check out the following:

Basically, the guest doctor gives terrifying statement about H1N1 - if the mother gets the vaccine which then cause her immune response, there is 7-14 times higher chance for the baby to develop autism and schizophrenia. There is also higher chance for seizures.
At the same time probability that the mother won't end up in the hospital because of getting sick with the flu if not vaccinated is 99.99%.
I would recommend to any pregnant woman to hear this doctor's opinion.

In my family, instead of vaccination, we all get our daily dose (1 tsp) of Sambucus (black elderberry extract) to give us protection against winter colds and flu.
