My daughter has been going to Midwest Gymnastics in Arden Hills since she was 18 mos old (now she's just over 2) and loves it. They also have a new location in Coon Rapids. I've never been to that location, but I bet it's close to you!
Hello Everyone,
After watching my 2 y.o. son trying to do handstands and cartwheels since October, I'm finally considering enrolling him in a tumbling class or some kind of gymnastics for toddlers.
We live on the super south end of Coon Rapids, MN, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a place to enroll him in the north or west metro? Also, did you feel it was worth the money?
Any other info you have that I can't think of please share. This is all new to me!
Thank you in advance!!!

the olympics is what triggered my 3 year old to want do gymnastics. i found her jumping on my bed landing in a split. aaaaggggg! i thought i was going to have to run her to the ER after watching.
anyways
we atart gymnastics class today, actually! We are going to Gleason's in Maple Grove. They also have Gleasons in Eagan. I have heard from others that it is a good class. The only down fall I heard was that they don't allow the parents in the gym, they are in another room with a window to watch. I'll be sure to let you know how our first day went. The little one is super exited to go. That's enough excitement for me. I can't wait!
Hi K.....check out the Community Education programs! Anoka Henneping has a huge one www.anoka.k12.mn.us/ce I know I have heard great things about the Centennial Districts program. We always start at Community ed because it is cheap, not a huge committment (time or money) and it is a great way to see how interested they really are! Both of our boys have taken the Tumbleweeds class several times through Anoka Henn Community Ed and LOVE it. I love that it is one time a week for like 5 weeks....for like 45 minutes-hour at a time. I haven't done them myself, but I have had friends who have done JamHops and like it. It is a bit more expensive and a longer time commitment, and more money. Good luck!
NOrthwest Gymnastics in New Hope. They are not the cheapest, but they are really good. My boys have learned sooo much in less than a year.
I did enroll my son in gymnastics through the community center...I thought it was a really good experience, and my son loved it. The price was really reasonable. It might be a good place for you to start.
I agree with Julie. My daughter also attends Twin City Twisters and loves it!! I tried Gleason last year and they were good, but I prefer TCT. It is also nice that the parents are able to participate with the kids. They have a wonderful area set up with small equipment meant just for the younger kids and they slowly introduce them into the larger equipment. For me, it it totally worth the money. Have fun!
To be honest, we just finished up tumbling with our 3 year old boy through community ed and it was awful. He would only follow their directions maybe 50% of the time. He wanted to do his own thing. He's got a ton of energy and wants to do the "tricks" all the time. But he really would have been better off going to an open gymn time at one of the local tumbling places. I imagine it really depends on your child as to how it goes. He loved the class but it was awful for me. I'm on the very north end of Coon Rapids. There is a place in Ham Lake called Jam Hops, one in Blaine called Perpetual Motion, one in Champlin called Little Gym, one in Brooklyn Park called Gleasons and a newer one in Coon Rapids somewhere that I don't remember the name of. I know Perpetual Motion is a very nice place, for sure Good luck, whatever you decide.
My daughter is 2 1/2 and she has been in gymnastics at Twin City Twisters in Champlin since she was 2. She really enjoys it. I like it because not only do they get to get out energy, but they also learn how to follow "structured" instructions. There are some kids in the class that are all over the place because they want to do their own thing, and others that do everything the teacher says, either way I think it is a good thing for the child. I do like Twin City Twisters, but I have never tried any other place, so I don't have anything to compare it to.
My daughter in enrolled in The Little Gym in Champlin right off 169! She LOVES it!! I've never been to the Twin City Twisters so I can't compare the pricing but we paid $299 for this session it goes from the end of January to I believe April (not quite sure). One thing I do like about it - if you miss a class you can make it up!!
We had our kids in Gleasons and they loved it. We couldn't do it this year due to scheduling. They are located right on the border of Osseo and Maple Grove off of 81.
