Guest List for a 4 Year Old's Birthday Party

Hi, my daughter will turn four in two weeks and we are planning a birthday party with her girl cousins and friends (about 5 little girls). She has been taking a ballet class since late February one day a week. There are four other little girls in her class and she would like to invite them to her party. Recently a few of the moms asked to have playdates with us and we had a playdate with all of the girls a few weeks ago. The little girls get along great and seem to enjoy each other's company (we moms enjoy chatting while the girls are in class). Would it seem odd (to the other moms) to invite the four little girls to my daughter's party? I don't want it to seem like we are looking for gifts or inviting them when we haven't known each other for a very long time. Any advice would be helpful.

So What Happened?

Thanks for the responses everyone! I handed out the invites at dance class today and found out that another mom brought invites for her daughter's party to all of us as well. The moms all seemed excited about the parties as did the kids. The only thing was that the other little girl's party invitation specified "no gifts, please". Then I felt bad for not putting that on mine.

Definitely invite them! Kids LOVE parties, and I know I love my kids to go to any party that they can, I don't care that I have to buy a gift, it's an outing, a social function and it wears them out!! And anyone who looks at it as an invite just for a gift is not worth fretting over their opinion to begin with, in my opinion. Kids need to be social and parties are a good was to start that. Good luck with the party!

I sure hope not. My daughter's birthday party is on Sat. we invited her whole ballet class. They have been together since the fall. My theory is you can ask, and if they don't want to come they don't have too.

Take care
J.

I would think it is pretty normal to invite them. You can always put on the invites "no presents please"

I'd say definitely invite them. If the girls get along well, and the moms get along well, why not? We have invited kids from dance and gym classes to my daughter's party. I think most people feel flattered and happy about their child being invited to a party, and don't see it as you just trying to get extra gifts for your child. Have fun!

If your daughter wants to invite them, I would! Especially since you have had a playdate outside of class.
