D.P.
Awwwwww! How sweet!
Congrats on the girl!
As a 'boy mom', I have no "real advice" for you except, look out, Danica Patrick! LOL
It's a GIRL!
Had my ultrasound yesterday, and yep, it's definitely a GIRL!
Any words of wisdom from mom's of girls? I have to totally switch gears now, and that scares me a little!
Hope you're having a wonderful Friday!
ETA - My husband is happy... he, of course, said he'd be happy with either, but did say that he'd like to have a girl, since we have my son... that, and he says girls make better race car drivers (he builds racing engines... LOL)
ETA AGAIN - NO name yet...
Theresa, I'm actually hoping it's a Mini-Husband... LOL He had tons of long, curly brown hair when he was a baby... He actually looked like a beautiful little girl! LOL I was bald until I was 3, and when it did start coming in, it came in on the back of my head first, so I looked like a balding old man! LMAO! So I'm hoping for a Mini-HIM!!!
Sarah K., LOL @ iCarly! My son actually likes that show too, but so do I! Sad, but true!
Awwwwww! How sweet!
Congrats on the girl!

I never wanted a girl and when I found out I was having one, I was scared. But then she came, and I have to say...I have no idea what I was thinking. Girls are just a little extra special. It's like they were born to be mommy's buddy. I love her to death. I love all my kids the same, but now I have someone to be girly with. It's gonna be so fun! Congrats!
Aww! Congrats L.!!!
I've been wondering for a few days now if you had found out. :)
Girls are so much fun to shop for.
My DD is all daddy's girl right now...but I love her a lot.
Hope I can have another one day. ;)
I have two of each. Girls are easy when the boys are hard, ya know, when they are little. Teenage boys are soooooooo much easier than teenage girls!
My girls have a lot of tomboy in them so they just played with all their brother's stuff. Of course I hate Barbies so I convinced them young that they were a marketing ploy and legos are far superior. Then I started stepping on legos! :(
What was your question again?
Lots of pink and get ready for whinning!
Congrats!! Girls are fun and a little TOO easy to shop for!
Congratulations!
The only words of advice I have are, don't worry too much about "switching gears"; Each child is so different, no matter the sex. I have 1 boy and 2 girls. The girls are so very different from one another. One is a "girly girl" who loves dressup, hairdos, ribbons, sparkly things etc. The other proclaims herself a boy, only wants to wear boy clothes, play with trucks, be a dinosaur, etc. So save those "boy" toys. You never know what kind of personality you are going to get.
Awesome - Congrats!
I have a 21 month old little girl and she is the light of my life. I am also pregnant but I havent found out the sex yet. I am 16 weeks so in a few weeks hopefully we can find out. I have a feeling its a boy but not sure. To be totally honest, obviously I want to hear foremost that my baby is healthy but I am a bit scared to hear that its a boy. I never really thought about it when I was pregnant wih my daughter because I knew 110% that she was a girl but now that I feel that its a boy I keep thinking that I just dont know what to do with a boy - I know its stupid to think that way but I cant help it. But like I said I just want to hear that its a healthy happy baby
Be prepared to switch from trucks and balls to hair and dolls!!!!! When I found out that I was having a girl I cringed at the sight of pink and now its one of my favorite colors! I am a total tom boy and my daughter, well she is A GIRLY GIRL!!!!! loves nail polish, boys (yes she's only 4 and im in for a world of trouble. good thing its only Justin Beiber and not a handful of them) loves dresses and make-up. I thought I would totally freak but I actually enjoy doing her hair, making little silver dots on her freshly painted purple nails. She does have enough in her though to get out there on the soccer field and kick some butt!!! She is such a joy in my life, although totally different than my son they are both such great blessings and im glad that I have a chance to learn how to french braid and watch I-carly and have someone to blame it on.
Congrats L., that's awesome! I have one of each and they are completely opposite! And actually, everyone is saying lots of pink and bows but that may last only temporarily...I have a tom boy...no pink AT ALL! It will be great, have fun! =)
Contratulations!
While all kids are different, my daughter is definitely high maintenance and has been since she was a baby (she's 5 now). There was/is nothing "mellow" or "easy" about her. Although I often find myself frustrated, I love her and wouldn't change her! :)
YAYYYYY!
Girls are awesome (i have two) Im pregnant now so swish some of those girly vibes my way!
Girls start out easier. None of mine are teens yet so i cant offer advice there other than self esteem of body image seem to be real factors in their happiness. However my girls are 8 and almost 3 and i can tell you from experience that they seem to so much easier in the beginning than boys. They usually have their milestones earlier. Get used to the color pink, for some reason it just comes natural. Also little girls tend to be for daddy, they can wrap daddy around their little finger and if you arent careful will very sneakily trick daddy into undermining you without his knowledge. They are harder to wipe also, theres a lot of folds and directions to wiping during a poop. But you will get the hang of it and at least they wont pee in your face..:). Also..........baths can be a problem, well, bath soap. be sure to use a very gentle one with almost no chemicals or really none at all. yeast infections come easily because of this. We grown women/mothers dont really know this because we get a bath about as often as satan hands out lemonade refreshments. OH, and look to get some hand-me-downs. Girls wear more clothes and grow out of their toys faster, having a free set every now and then is great.
Im sure there's more, cant think of any more right now,
CONGRATULATIONS!.........whats her name?
Hi L.
Congrats!!
I am having a girl too and have a 4yr old boy.
I am 34 weeks along and getting really excited now. I must admit that it is great fun buying baby girl clothes and I have different energy being pregnant with a girl.
With my son I had this Mammy protection from the world vibe. With this pregnancy I want to teach my daughter the importance of being a strong ,intelligent female and not rely on female looks to get through life.
We are planning to call our girl Sola.
All the best
B. k
Awww, Yay! A little Mini-L.! That's awesome news (well I mean not that a boy would've been BAD news of course).
My daughter and I have the coolest relationship. I have learned so much about myself, looking at things through her eyes.
Thanks for the smile! Have a great weekend!
(What does your husband think?)
:)
That's wonderful :) Congrats!!!
My SD is almost 17 ~ what I remember the most from when she was little is how mellow she was compared to my two boys!
Oh, and little girls have an amazing way of wrapping their Daddy's around their little finger :)
Yea!!! Congratulations!! Unfortunately, all kids are different!! I have 3 and they all have different personalities and one is tall, one is medium and one is tiny!!!
Good Luck!!!
Bows bows bows! And princesses and PINK (or if she's like my daughter, purple) and DRAMA! Hehe, have fun!!! :)
Congratulations...
It will be the best friendship you EVER have!!!
After the teen years, of course ; )
Congrats! I second that shopping for girls is so much more fun! They have so many more clothes choices!!!
I was hoping this was going to be a gender announcement! Congratulations! I see lots of tea parties in your future.
If I could give one bit of advice for a newborn girl - use the stretchy headbands with a bow on them. Much better than trying to get one tiny wisp of hair in a bow.
Advice for mom of a girl as she grows - accomplishments, setting goals and reaching them is what builds self esteem in a girls. Not telling them they are pretty or smart. They have to achieve and DO things they will be proud of in order to build esteem for themselves.
Advice for mom of a preteen girl - the relationship you have and she has with daddy is the relationship she will either try to emmulate or rebel against. Make sure it's a good one.
Advice for mom of a teenager - double check everything. Don't fall for the staying the night at each others houses gag. Always talk to the other mom to be sure everyone is on the same page.
Congrats!!!!
My guy wants to get our daughter into racing, quads, etc. He has dreams of her being out in the garage with him building the hot rods. I have no doubt she'll be out there in the garage with him. She also has my taste...so she'll be out there in heels. ;)
All I can say is be prepared to get a ton of girls clothes both pretty and horribly ugly. To fit it all in our apartment I got this set of wire shelves and stuck it in the closet (bought at target for $20). You can put it together however you want, IE tall and thin, short and wide, step-like, etc. That was the best thing I found to organize it all for the tons of girls clothes we got living in a tiny apartment. Even though we have mroe space now, it's still in her closet, I love that thing! Instead of elastic head bands (I didn't like them) you can use tiny craft bows applied with a dab of Karo Corn Syrup.
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to hear the name. =)
Build a bigger closet and buy an extra dresser. No matter what they end up with WAY more clothing items than the boys!
We are into too much pink as purple is "our" color...she likes to say it's "our" favorite color! I keep telling her no my fave is green...
Those little princess figurines...are worse than Legos!
My daughter is only 6 but we are inseperable (I know that will change in a few years so I am enjoying every minuted with my girly girl, I am a tomboy!) She's taught me how to be "girly girl".
Someone else suggested it...and I agree the elastic type head bands...Syd was bald for ever and no matter how much pink/purple, girly girl clothing I put on her i still rec'd "oh he's so cute"....
aww congratulations!! :)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!
This is GREAT!!!!
My daughter is 25 - no words of wisdom other than take long, deep breaths!!! :)
Love her like there's no tomorrow!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Congrats! I never wanted a girl. I was terrified Id have a girl. My first was a girl. And now I'm blessed with 2. (and 1 boy). Little girls embody all the best parts of you and you learn so much from them. There are no words for how amazing and wonderful it is. Watching sisters and brothers interact is amazing too. You're very blessed!
