My 4 1/2 month old has started waking up every 2-3 hours during the night to feed and is also taking longer naps during the day. Is this typical in regards to a growth spurt?
Let me add...he is still only formula fed as his pediatrician wants us to wait until he is at least 5 months to start cereal.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

After three very long nights it's over...last night he slept through the night until 4:00 this morning...thank goodness. So i guess it was a growth spurt.

It sounds like one. Once he starts eating cereal his tummy will stay fuller for longer and hopefully he will sleep longer too. Why did your doctor want u to wait to start cereal?

Yes! You may notice a change in her appetite, too. She'll bounce back and forth from "eating like a horse" to having little or no appetite. And watch what she's ravenous for! Usually things packed with protein, calcium and fat.

Happy pants-shopping, A.! In a week or so, she'll be flooding! Congrats to the growing sprout!

Hello,

I am a new mom and my baby is 3 1/2 months old and we started her on cereal last week but that was just it she was not getting full and she wanted to feed more. A lot of times we have to stay away from doing things from the "BOOK" you have to read YOUR baby's cues and evidently he is telling you mommy I am still hungry so if I was you I would just try a tablespoon or two and see what happens. I am definitely not suggesting that you do not need to listen to the Dr. but we have to do what is best for our children.

Yup! My 5 month old is doing it now too! They need the sleep to grow but need the frequency to eat so that's why they sleep more during the day and eat way more and wake up in the night! Enjoy it!!!
