I was going to say the same thing as everyone else has Growing Pains! I got these all thru High School Bannanas do help. If you can get him to eat something rich in Potassium it should help that is why bannanas help. Good luck!

my son has had that problem over the last few years , I definately think it is growing pains, if it hurt very badly I would give him a child's pain reliever, but the best things to do is make sure he has more fruits and veggies espicially bananas ,the potassium in them is good for growing bones

Hi A.,
I had growing pains for years and my mom would have to sit on the bed and rub my legs until I fell back to sleep...They were severe many times. Well my daughter has also inherited my growing pains she is only two and gets them in her arms. I can only imagine what it will be like when she is around 7. My story has a point, ha ha, my mom didn't know about a cream called Pain-A-Trate. Made by a company called Melaleuca. They are a membership only company that you can enroll right now for only $1 (it is usually $29)until the end of December. But the Pain-A-Trate has Melaleuca oil in it and penetrates down deep in the muscle and I only have to rub it in and she gets immediate relief. If you would like me to help you set up your account with Melaleuca where you can order some I will. my email is ____@____.com OH! I forgot you also will get $100 in free product for enrolling by December 31st. Let me know, AMANADA.
I swear by this company for many things in my home especially since they are TOXIC FREE PRODUCTS.

I went thru this exact thing with my oldest daughter Jennifer who by the way is now 30 and perfectly fine. I did take her to the Dr. when she was going thru this and all he had me do was give her tylenol for the pain but yes her body was growing at a faster pace then some children and it made it painful for her. This lasted off and on for about 3 months and then she was fine. I also noticed having her soak in a warm bath relaxed her and eased her pain also. I would suggest taking your little man to the Dr. just for precautionary measures but most likely it is the same thing.

Happy Holidays and enjoy those boys.

Hi A.-
It sounds like it could be growing pains, but depending on how often he wakes up hurting-I would take him to the doctor just to make sure it is not something else. You could try giving him some ibuprofen before he goes to sleep to see if that alleviates his pain. But if it should continue often, I'd make a doctor's appointment.

I remember getting these growing pains, too, and I can tell you they were PAINFUL! Massaging them helped the best, as well as warm baths and heating pads (for short time periods). I'd check with your doctor, too.

The pains were not sharp, but very dull, aching pains - like your bones hurt (not the muscles).

Hope he feels better soon!

Hi,

I agree with the other responses that you should double check with your child's doctor. My 9yr old daughter has had these pains for a couple of years now, and I had them as well. What seems to help is a brisk rubdown/massage, and tylenol if it gets really bad (so she can sleep). What I've read is that the bones grow at a different rate than the muscles and this causes the pain.

Good luck!

Sometimes cramps(especially the charlie-horse kind) can be caused by a vitamin deficiency or dehydration. I think it is usually potassium or magnesium that can help, but I would check with his doctor. I had them as a child, too, and remember them being pretty bad sometimes, and massaging them always helped. Good luck.

I havent experienced this personally but my husband has as a child. He use to wake up crying also about his legs hurting and from he told me..it helped when his mother would rub rubbing alcohol on them and message it in really good. It would probably also be a good idea to take him to his doctor and have him dignose him properly.
