I know I've had a lot of home questions lately, but here goes another... when our house was built, evidently the builder didn't seal the grout and when we moved in, the grout was & still is very stained and nasty and emabarassing. I've tried every kind of cleaner known to man, does anyone have any tips on getting grout clean? We had an estimate to have the grout restained and also to replace the floors altogether, but both are expensive...any ideas? Thanks for your help!!!
We had really dirt grout and we used Turbo-Tec Tile & Grout Cleaning. He came in and cleaned it and sealed it. It looks very clean. He also recommended that we use the Steam Mop to clean the floors. He is very reasonable and does a good job.

A friend of mine who is sort of a "jill-of-all-trades" when it comes to dealing with houses suggested to me that if you have stained grout you can make a pitcher of tea (no sugar of course) and pour that on the floor, let it soak in and stain it and then clean it up.
I have not tried it, but it sounded like a good idea. Tea stains everything, so why not grout.
I agree with Kelley. Go to home depot and ask the people in that department. Most builders do not seal the grout. We just moved into a new home and that's one of the first things we did. (You don't realize how much tile you have until you do that job!)
If you have tile in a heavy traffic area, you may want to consider putting in a darker grout. Putting in grout is not that difficult. You just need the right tools (again, ask home depot). My mom put in a dark grout with her gray tile and it looks great!
You can buy grout paint at Floor & Decor off Luna Road off the 635 South.
Paint the grout, then seal it. I hate grout, mine looks awful too and I'm too busy and too lazy to paint it but I know it works because I've done it before.
Use Grout sealer -- it serves the same purpose as the cleaner and does a better job too! They sell a brand at home depot and I am sure other hardware stores.
