For people who live in Washington -

I'm looking for positive feedback or experiences with Group Health. My husband health insurance is changing next year. We have a choice of Uniform Medical or a couple of plans with Group Health. I know plenty of negatives about GH and am sick over this change in health insurance. I do not want to change pediatricians or family doctors, and really do not want to be part of Group Health. Thus, I am looking for positive feedback from people about Group Health. I do not need any negative stories or opinions, as there is really not much I can do about this change. We have to choose. It all makes me sick to my stomach.

Thank You

What can I do next?

I had Group Health insurance for 2 years. I loved it. We had a great pediatrician. I think my favorite thing about it was the convenience. My son broke his arm while we had Group Health. We went to see the pediatrician. Then we had x-rays done. Then he got his arm set. All of this happened in the same building.

I could get shots, lab work, x-rays, prescriptions filled - all in one stop. I had 3 kids at the time, so it was a life saver. I was never disappointed in the level of service from the doctors or anyone else I worked with.

No negatives? My mom always told me if I couldn't say anything nice then I shouldn't say anything =)

I'm in medical billing, so probably have more opinions than most. And you're right about GH. I LOVE Uniform! And next year they will be utilizing the Regence Blue Shield network, which will make them even better.

Just my (not-so-humble), medical billing biased, opinion. They're the last insurance I would choose to have, tied with United and Pacificare. Good luck!

I actually had a great experience with Group Health Capital Hill in Seattle. I delivered my daughter there and have nothing but wonderful things to say about the doctors, midwives, nurses and facilities. As with all things, there are slight negatives, but none that would warrant me to tell you that it's a terrible decision.

My husband who works in HR for a major corporation, was pushing hard to contract with GH for his company. They are the industry standard in many best practices. i.e making records easily accesible to patients, streamlining all services in one place (most buildings have a one stop shopping..if you will).

I was always able to get an appointment whenever I needed one. Everyone I dealt with was efficient and courteous.

I have nothing but good things to say about them.

Hope this helps! :)

UPDATE:

In this month's Consumer Reports, GH was rated Better Than Average in Consumer Satisfaction and Treatment. Also was ranked 48th out of 227 nationwide plans. I'd say that's pretty good. Let us know how it goes!!
