I can't tell you why, but can you give him a pacifier/binky? If so, that may help with the grinding.

My son has now got about 5 teeth and is 10 months old. At night I have noticed that he has been grinding his teeth! Does anyone know why he is doing this???

My daughter did the same thing right after she got her top two teeth. I think they are just adjusting to the new teeth in their month. I remember it sounded horrible, but it only lasted for about a month.
Both my kids did this. I asked our family dentist on my first child. He said it's because they are just feeling and adjusting to having teeth in their mouth. My daughter now 15 months still does it on occasion but not as often. I usually tap her on the side of her mouth telling her no to make her stop.
lots of times it is hereditary. I do it and all my children do it. Sometimes we do it when we are stressed. Some grow out of it, some don't. Talk to the dentist. My daughter needs to have a baby root canal because of it, but since her teeth will be falling out soon, we are going to wait unless it becomes very painful for her. She does have a mouth guard now. Although that comes later when they are old enough to make a molding of their teeth. My daughter is now 7. My 6 year old has yet to make a guard because we know she can't just yet bare the stuff in her mouth. Try massaging the jaw when he is doing it, sometimes that helps to relax his jaw.
I used to grind my teeth when I was a kid. I now do it only when I'm REALLY tired (over tired). This might be his issue. Some people just grind their teeth (it's like snoring). If it gets too bad he may have to wear a mouth gaurd, but I would talk to your dentist.
This is a normal developmental thing. They just discover they can make this cool sound with their teeth. Most kids outgrow it so ignore the beahavior (so as not to reinforce it) and he should stop with time.
my son does this as well, unfortunately i think they are too young for a guard or anything. Maybe ask your pediatrician for some advice, i always forget to mention it! i someitmes wake him up if its too bad then he goes back to sleep. its the only thing i could think of. My son started when he got about 5 teeth as well hes 19 months now and only does it sometimes.
hope that helped

yes he is either
.1 cold
.2 haveing bad dreams
.3 he needs a teeth gaurd
or .4 he wants more comfort from you
Many adults do this also. Just talk to his dentist.
I don't know why they do it but my son did it too. Maybe it helps the pain of the teething to put pressure on it, I don't know. My son is now 2.5 and does not grind his teeth anymore. I used to try to distract him or give him something else to chew on but sometimes he did it anyway. I know it is hard to watch and listen to but your son should grow out of it.
Ugh - my daughter did this too and right around the same age (she's 14 months now). I think it's just a phase because eventually she stopped doing it. The sound was horrible though and I worried she would damage her teeth. We tried to not make a big deal about it and since she's a binky girl we'd pop that in her mouth to get her to stop. Hang in there (they do get over it) and in the meantime, plug your ears :)
My son did this too, it is the way they are exploring their new teeth, it is a phase, he will stop. but I know the noise is horrible to listen to
teething. my son did this for his first 6 years. Now that he is 7, he doesn't do it anymore. I wouldn't worry too much. I dont believe he is ruining is perfectly new teeth :O)
