Hello! Any good ideas or hidden gems for my son's 8th birthday party this January. Winter birthday, so indoors. I was hoping someone out there knows some great place I don't know about. I don't want to do Chucke Cheese's, or Pump it Up or Gameworks.

Thanks Ladies,
M.

What about roller rink, ice rink (maybe even hockey related), some indoor kids soccer clubs do birthday parties, or bowling. Bowling is usually a good time with this age group, bumper or regular.

Check out your park district. We just rented out a gym at our neighborhood Chicago Park District building for my son's 9th birthday. There were 20 boys total, and they had a blast. We played Steal the Bacon, Capture the Flag and Dodgeball. What more could boys this age want than an afternoon of running around together?! It was easy and inexpensive too!

How many kids? 8-10 years seems like when the parties get smaller and kids start having sleepovers and other easier-to-manage parties like going to the movies. I've been thinking Medieval Times would be a great excursion for a birthday, but only affordable for a small group.

You can also try bowling (Brunswick Zone seems nice), gymnastic centers, and park districts. Elmhurst has a ton of stuff on their park district website for parties - not sure which part of the city you are in. Or you could do swimming - there are a bunch of indoor places for swimming parties (Oakbrook park district is one, or Mayan Adventure in Elmhurst.) I've heard about rock-wall climbing parties, too, but I'm not sure of a location for that.
