starting wetting his bed at night

Contrary to some of the responses you have received below, our pediatrician has said that bedwetting is VERY common at age and doctors don't typically get concerned until the age of 6 or 7. The only exception to that is if the child was previously night-time trained and suddenly started to wet the bed after previously staying dry for a lengthy period. That is when they start to become concerned that something stressful is taking place in the child's life. Check with your doctor.
Have him checked for Type 1 Diabetes. My daughter did the same thing and she was diagnosed immediately, don't wait.
Good luck,
DH
Something has changed in his life or a growth spurt.
To start doing this at his age is not usual, or I don't think it is. I would ask the doctor about it and try to find out if anything is going on that could cause this. Some kids continue to not be night trained until this age but most don't start it at this age.
I'd say there's something going on. Has your grandson always lived with you? Are his parents in the picture?
There is something going on to ause him to start wetting the bed at this age. Get a referral for a counselor from his pediatrician.
