My daughter is eight and seems to be getting a little old for a lot of the cartoons out there. She really likes Horseland on CBS which I like because it brings up issues like environmentalism, internet safety and good cellphone use in a fun way for that age group. We watched Hannah Montana last night - she didn't like it much and I was not impressed with it either. It may be OK for teenagers but too much boyfriend/girlfriend stuff and teenager/parent back-and-forth for her age. Do you have any suggestions for shows that kids that age would like and that you as parents appreciate also?
I'm not sure if you have netflix, but if you do, we've been ordering the discs from Little House on the Prairie. I know it's an old TV show, but it was one of my favorites as a kid and my two sons ages 5 and 10 actually like to watch it with me. Of course reading the books might help get them interested. One of my nieces that age likes cooking and home decorating shows. My sons also like science shows like "How It's Made". Good luck!

Ooh!I love Flight 29 down!My Mom and I were watching it until last night,but then we had watched all the episodes!Flight 29 down is the best show ever1O h and by the way I'm a kid but I need something to watch and I had to sign up just to say that
My girls are 10 & 12, and they usually watch the Discovery Channel, Science Channel, National Geographic Channel or America's Funniest Videos ( I forget which channel that is- the kids know !)We rarely watch network t.v. besides local news. My girls don't like Hannah Montana either. They do like Flight 21 Down, I think it's on Discovery Kids channel. They like to watch Ace of Cakes on the Food Network channel too. Or, they watch CNN with us and we discuss what they're talking about.
I think she might like the show I-Carly on Nickelodeon.
My almost 10 year old loves Horseland too. She also loves almost anything on Animal Planet, iCarly, America's Got Talent (when it was on), Dancing with the Stars (comes back on soon) and Spongebob. We only let them watch tv on the weekends so it limits what she chooses. We dvr all of the above shows for her to watch when she has time.
"Trading Places" "How things are made" "Arthur" also the arts and crafts shows (forget their names)
